Potatoes Aren't Actually Responsible For Most Vodka

While many believe that potatoes are a main ingredient in vodka, this isn't even close to true. Most vodka today is actually made from grains, commonly wheat or corn.
Big-name producers like Grey Goose, Absolut, Ketel One, and Svedka use wheat while Tito's and Smirnoff both use corn. Some brands even use a mix of the two.
Vodka can be made from almost any ingredient, as long as that ingredient contains sugar or starch to ferment. Unlike other liquors, it’s not bound to a strict set of ingredients.
Therefore, vodka is not defined by its ingredients but rather by the process used to make it. The most important part of making vodka is distillation.
