Pennsylvania is a special place for foodies and has plenty to offer historically. King George II Inn, the state's oldest bar, is one place that offers the best of both worlds.
The bar celebrated nearly 350 years in business in 2024, making it the longest and oldest continuously operating inn in the United States as well.
It was founded in 1681, the same year Pennsylvania became a U.S. territory. At one point, it even hosted the first U.S. president, George Washington.
The inn was also used during the Revolutionary War as a headquarters for General Cadwalader and his troops. Supposedly, soldiers even shot down the inn's sign during the war.
The historic bar serves more than just drinks today. It has plenty of lodging, five dining rooms, and a riverfront patio, and it prides itself on serving quality drinks and dishes.
