Historian Henry F. Graff wrote in a biography of President Grover Cleveland that he once swapped his fancy meal with corned beef and cabbage served to his staff, and he loved it.
Grover got so tired of the French food he was being served that he asked for his servants' meal instead. He then claimed it to be "the best food he had had for months," per Graff.
Corned beef is a festive dish enjoyed among American Irish people in the U.S. The dish is made of salt-cured beef brisket and a smattering of spices and vegetables.
