Two glasses of martini
James Bond's Signature Martini Order Is Wrong

James Bond, the iconic undercover agent, has a taste for the high life, but his martini order makes us wonder why he would want the drink done all wrong: "shaken, not stirred."
While the classic martini is made with gin and vermouth, Bond prefers a medium dry vodka martini. His choice of spirit is as unusual as the way he likes the drink to be mixed.
The vigorous shaking affects the delicate flavors and aromatics of gin (or vodka) and vermouth, while ice dilutes the drink when shaken and introduces more air, making it frothy.
Conversely, stirring creates a smoother and silkier martini, as the gentle mixing lets the ingredients blend without introducing as much air into the drink or diluting it too much.
Lastly, a gin martini has a more aromatic and flavorful profile, mainly because of the gin. However, a vodka martini depends on the other ingredients, as vodka is a neutral spirit.
Bond’s martini order may test the audience to see if they'd pick up on this eccentricity, or Bond is shown to be flawed, like the rest of us, and likes his drinks rowdy, not nice.
