Issues With Costco's New Rotisserie Chicken Bag

NEWS

Costco’s rotisserie chicken, priced at $5.00, is lauded by fans as arguably the best deal in food. However, some fans are unhappy with a change made to the product’s packaging.
In early March 2024, rumors began circulating online that Costco would be switching its rotisserie chickens’ packaging from plastic boxes to plastic bags to reduce plastic waste.
The rumors were confirmed later that month when Costco locations in Washington switched their rotisserie chickens’ packaging over to plastic bags, leaving many disappointed.
On Reddit, many people have reported that the new packages are leaking juices and that some local recycling services refuse to accept the bags since they only take solid plastics.
Additionally, a Redditor claiming to be a former Costco employee expressed concern that the new bags would make it harder for employees to package large quantities of chicken.
However, Canadian Costcos have been packing their chickens in bags for years. In fact, many Redditors have claimed the bags are easier to pack into the car and less prone to leaks.
