How To Easily Remove A Broken Cork From A Wine Bottle

NEWS

By MATTHEW LEE
Opening a bottle of wine at home is a struggle if the cork breaks, leaving a stubborn piece lodged in the bottleneck. Try this method before forcing the cork inside the bottle.
Instead of trying to get the worm of your opener into the broken stub to move it out of the way, insert it at a 45-degree angle — slightly off-center and tilting a bit to the side.
This technique allows you to gently work the screw into the cork without pushing the stubborn piece deeper into the bottle.
With a steady hand and a bit of patience, you'll be able to carefully extract the rest of the stopper and get a smooth, cork-free pour for you and your guests.
