How Long An Open Container Of Hummus Will Stay Fresh

Determining whether store-bought dips and spreads, such as hummus, are spoiled can be particularly challenging, especially when they have a distant expiration date.
According to the FoodKeeper App, a food safety resource designed by the USDA, refrigerated hummus should be consumed or discarded within seven days of opening.
It’s crucial to securely close the container’s lid to avoid moisture accumulation, as potential bacterial growth won’t be eliminated, given that hummus isn’t cooked before eating.
Although store-bought hummus has a longer shelf life in the fridge compared to homemade varieties, it’s still advisable to refrain from consuming it beyond a week after opening.
