Costco’s Kirkland brand golden maple syrup is an entirely separate item from their original jug of amber organic maple syrup. However, both are real, pure maple syrups.

The golden maple syrup is sold in an eye-catching premium glass bottle, giving it a rustic, farmer's market-chic look, with a red, old-fashioned swing top.

While a 740 ml bottle of golden maple syrup is priced between $12.99 to $15.99, you can get a plastic 1-liter jug of amber organic maple syrup for $14.99 on Costco's website.

Much like the original Kirkland maple syrup product, the golden syrup is 100% organic, grade A, and boasts, according to the front of the label, a "golden delicate taste."

However, golden syrups have a noticeably lighter and more delicate flavor and color compared to amber, dark, or very dark varieties, which are far richer and more robust.

The former won't lend that signature maple flavor to baked goods, but if you enjoy a mild flavor that isn’t overpowering, you can pour it on French toast or drizzle it on yogurt.

The golden syrup could also work well mixed into a cocktail — just don't expect the punchy flavor of darker varieties. Lastly, both golden and amber syrups are certified Kosher.
