Guy Fieri's "Guy's Grocery Games" sees chefs trek down grocery aisles for the right ingredients. Not all items are used, but there is a system in place to manage the unused ones.
The television set-bound grocery store is filled with over 20,000 items. The staff conducts weekly checks to ensure that the groceries do not go to waste.
Every Friday night, items like bread, meat, and seafood are checked for their expiration date, per Food Network. Foods that are still good are then donated to the local food banks.
Food Network also has a system to reduce food waste from on-air cooking. The food scraps produced during the cooking challenges are given to a local farm to feed livestock.
