Vichysoisse

One of Child's favorite dishes, Vichysoisse is a potato-leek-cream soup served cold. All you have to do to prepare it is chop up the ingredients, mix, simmer, and blend.
Named after the Vichy region of France, the dish has a suggested cooking time of close to an hour. Its plain nature means that it's a great showcase for fresh, quality ingredients.

In-N-Out

While Child is known for loving and promoting French food, she was also very happy to dig into fast food. Her favorite fast food joint apparently was In-N-Out.
Chef Jamie West told the Ventura Country Star in 2019 that he drove Child to and from a food demonstration in California and they stopped at In-N-Out during both the trips.

Sole Meunière

After arriving in France, Child and her husband ate oysters, green salads, and sole meunière at Restaurant La Couronne in Normandy, and the food left her stunned.
Sole meunière is a simple white fish in a lemon and butter sauce. It was literally the first French food she had ever eaten and it set her off on her quest to learn French cooking.

Goldfish Crackers

Child loved Goldfish crackers from Pepperidge Farm and would buy huge boxes of them. She even served them with her favorite martini on Thanksgiving.
Interestingly, Goldfish crackers were based on similar fish-shaped crackers made in Switzerland. The cheesy orange morsels were originally meant to be a bar snack for adults.

Tuna Salad - Hellmann's Mayo

Once, a typical lunch at Child's house used to be tuna salad, either open-faced on half an English muffin, or sandwiched between two white breads.
The mayo always used to be Hellmann's brand. Not only did she like the combo, but it was also a relaxed lunch that she could make quickly without compromising the taste.
