Grind These Seeds Down When You Need An Emergency Egg Substitute

While mashed bananas and applesauce serve as excellent egg substitutes in baking, opt for flaxseed and chia seeds if you prefer a mildly flavored binding agent instead.

To use these seeds as an egg substitute, you’ll need to grind them first. For reference, one tablespoon of ground chia seeds or flaxseeds is equivalent to one egg.

Mix each tablespoon of ground seeds with three tablespoons of water, and leave it to sit for around five minutes to thicken before you add it into your recipe in place of the eggs.
