Buy: Garlic Peppercorn Pork

This tenderloin is pre-seasoned with flavor from garlic and spicy peppercorns in a balanced marinade, so you can cook it straight out of the package.
The marinade also helps the pork maintain a tender texture and keeps it from drying out. The package is a bit larger than the regular pork tenderloin, perfect for a family meal.

Avoid: Pork/Chicken Sausage

The pork and chicken sausages from the meat department are $6.50 per pound while the deli chicken sausages are $4.30 for 12 ounces and just as delicious.

Buy: Beef Stew Meat

These beef chunks are large enough to get a good sear yet small enough to blend with other flavors. They come from cattle not given antibiotics and hormones.

Avoid: Carne Asada

This carne asada is heavy on salt, not very citrusy, and light on the garlic. It is prepped, which cuts down on cooking time, but the flavor isn't bold enough.
You can make your own seasoning to customize the flavor and spice level, but this means that any time saved during prep will be spent doctoring the meat with extra sauces.

Buy: Flank Steak

This steak is USDA Choice, so it has a moderate amount of marbling to add flavor and keep the meat tender. It’s also large enough to be used in multiple meals.
