Easy Upgrades To Enhance Your Tuna Sandwiches

The Bread

Using a different bread — be it more textured, softer, or thicker than the one you use — can majorly boost your tuna sandwich. You can even use sweet or fresh-baked ones.
You can also toast your regular bread, press your sandwich into a panini, or grill it. Consider trying an open-faced sandwich or swapping the bread for muffins, bagels, or waffles.

The Ingredients

When picking your ingredients, including the mayo, relish, and pickle, go for the freshest, tastiest, and best quality ones. Use the best canned tuna you can afford.
Consider experimenting with different tuna species, opting for wild-caught tuna over farm-raised ones, or using solid tuna. Try tuna in oil and tuna in water to know what you like.

Make A Wrap

Use a tortilla or pita to make yourself a tuna wrap. Try whole wheat, flour, and corn options for different flavors and textures, or try a gluten-free tuna lettuce wrap.
If you want to use both lettuce and a tortilla in your wrap, layer large leafy greens over the tortilla, add your tuna salad, and roll. Then, cut the wrap into bite-sized pieces.

Use Chips

Topping your tuna sandwich with smaller potato chips right before eating can give the dish a tasty crunch. If your chips have added salt, adjust the salt in your tuna mix.
Try using chips with other flavors and textures for different results. You can also opt for Fritos, tortilla chips, or even thinly sliced vegetable chips for some added nutrients.

Use A Dressing

Swap the mayo in your sandwich for a salad dressing to get a different flavor. Be sure to add your fresh or dried herbs in accordance with the dressing's ingredients.
Most dressings are similar in consistency to mayo, so substitute them using a 1:1 ratio. Feel free to use mayo-based dressings, vinaigrettes, or even a simple oil-and-vinegar mix.
