Cut Cake Perfectly Every Time With One Knife Technique

All you need is a knife and this simple trick to ensure you get a perfectly clean slice of cake each time. You’ll never have a crumbly or smeared cake slice again.
Simply heat your knife under running hot water from the sink before cutting into the cake. Wipe off excess water so you don't end up with a soggy
cake, then cut through the cake.
Many prefer a serrated knife, but any basic chef’s knife will do the trick once it’s heated. The hot water warms the metal blade so it can easily glide through the cake.
Once you've sliced through to the bottom of the piece, retract your knife gently and smoothly, and go in with a cake server to pick up the piece and deposit it on plates.
