Can Your Cast Iron Stand Up To Metal Utensils?

NEWS

Using metal utensils with cast iron cookware is generally safe and won't damage the pan; however, there is a risk of chipping off the protective seasoning layer.
While other types of cookware like nonstick pans are susceptible to scratching from metal utensils, cast iron is more resilient and
can withstand their use.
When using a new or freshly seasoned cast iron pan, opt for gentler utensils like wood or silicone at first to allow the seasoning to settle and prevent damage to the pan.
This precaution also applies to older pans that have been re-seasoned. Avoid using metal utensils with unseasoned cast iron pans to prevent rust and food sticking issues.
