Given how delicate a glass stovetop is, it's natural to wonder if it’s safe to cast-iron cookware. Surprisingly, it is, but you must take precautions to avoid damaging it.
For instance, you must gently set cast iron cookware down so it doesn't scratch or crack the glass. It's also better not to shimmy or scoot it around on the stovetop.
Stubborn stuck-on food or gunk on a cast iron can also become carbonized from the heat and leave a stain on your stovetop, so you must be extra careful to clean the cast iron.
Lastly, cast iron is notorious for uneven heating, which can create hot spots that lead to thermal shock and damage the stovetop. It's best to heat cast iron slowly to avoid this.
