Barbara Streisand Uses A Special Marshmallow Hack For Homemade Ice Cream

EGOT-winning entertainer Barbara Streisand’s homemade marshmallow-based ice cream was immortalized in the 1967 cookbook "Singers & Swingers in the Kitchen" by Roberta Ashley.
Streisand's formula calls for only four ingredients — cream, milk, instant coffee, and marshmallows, which keep the ice cream creamier thanks to the stabilizing effect of gelatin.
To make this ice cream, simply heat a cup of milk in a large pot and stir in 24 marshmallows until they've fully melted, then add one teaspoon of instant coffee.
Then, let the hot marshmallow cool down before folding it in with whipped cream and pouring it into a freezer-safe container. Once it’s properly frozen, you’re ready to go.
Streisand enjoyed having her scoops with pretzels, but you can add whatever you like, including graham crackers, fudge ripple, toasty walnuts, almonds, or hot honey.
