Baking soda, ranking high on the pH scale with an abrasive nature, can effortlessly remove labels — or the sticky residue left behind by a somewhat peeled label — from glassware.

There are two different baking soda techniques to remove labels from glassware. No matter which one you use, start by peeling off as much of the label as you can.
Paste made of baking soda and water in a cup
The first method calls for making a paste using equal parts baking soda and water or oil. Spread the paste on the label, let it sit for 5 to 15 minutes, and wipe everything off.

The second method involves putting the glassware into a pot of water on medium-high heat and sprinkling in some baking soda, allowing the solution to simmer and bubble up.

Here, the carbon dioxide bubbles released by the baking soda will loosen the label. Once the glassware cools down, rub a little baking soda on any remaining residue to remove it.
