Anthony Bourdain's Advice For Safely Slicing Onions

In a demonstration of slicing onions on Travel Channel, the late chef and TV personality Anthony Bourdain showcased a simple technique to slice and dice an onion safely.
Before you begin, you will need a sharp knife and a stable cutting board. If your board slips or wobbles, put a damp paper towel under it to secure it.
Start by peeling your onion, cutting the ends, and slicing it in half. Bourdain demonstrates holding the onion at a 45-degree angle with his fingers tucked in against the blade.
Secure the half onion in place and slice horizontally, leaving the end uncut. Finally, create vertical cuts for a fine dice, repeating the process with the other half of the onion.
