  • 1 cup besan flour (shifted) with ½ tablespoon turmeric
  • Salt and 2 T. oil
  • 2 cups water

Tofu Salad with Besan Flour

A simple and nice vegetarian dish using lentil; it is a specialty from Shan State, Myanmar. Growing up in Yangon, the Shan ethnic people make this dish and vendors in the market will sell it in the morning. Since my mom is from that region, we often make it at home.

Instructions

  1. 1Boil 2 cups water in a pot and mix flour into the water and stir well till thicken and pour into the half inch shallow pan.
  2. 2Keep it low heat. And let it cool. Consistency should be almost like thick gelatin.
  3. 3Sliced thin, add lime leaves, cabbage, tamarind juice, fish sauce, fry onion garlic and oil.
