Ingredients (6)

  • 1 lb. Raw Large / Jumbo Shrimp (Shell on)
  • 2 Bottles of Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat ale
  • 3 Tablespoons Pickling Spices
  • 1 Cup Ketchup
  • Horseradish to taste
  • 1/4 Lemon

We had a similar offering at a local eatery and really liked it. While the initial introduction was pleasing, it seemed to be lacking something to really make it special. We tinkered with the recipe, played with some of the ingredients and and came up with a winner. The flavors of the Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat ale really make this dish what it is; a Summer favorite!

Instructions

  1. 1Add raw, shell-on, jumbo shrimp and pickling spices to two, 12 oz. bottles of Blue Moon Summer Honey Wheat ale
  2. 2Bring all ingredients to a boil until shrimp is thoroughly cooked (5 – 10 minutes, depending on size of the shrimp)
  3. 3Drain beer from shrimp and chill for approximately 1 1/2 hours (Leave shrimp in the shell for peel-and-eat)
  4. 4Mix ketchup, juice of 1/4 lemon and horseradish (to taste) for cocktail sauce
  5. 5Serve as an appetizer at your next Summer get together. (Also good as a main entree on a hot summer day with a side of fresh corn on the cob! For the adventurous type: Pull shrimp from boiling beer before they are fully cooked. Peel and throw on the grill for 3 – 4 minutes (depending on the size of the shrimp). Serve with a light chili-oil sauce or lime butter.
