Ingredients (11)

  • 5 apples; peeled, cored and cubed
  • 1/8 teaspoon allspice
  • 1/8 teaspoon cloves
  • 1/8 teaspoon nutmeg, freshly ground
  • 1 tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine; chilled and cut into pieces
  • 1/2 cup flour
  • 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. 1preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenhiet. grease an 8“x8” baking dish.
  2. 2combine brown sugar, flour, oats, cinnamon and vanilla extract. add butter. with a fork, mash together until the mixture forms moist clumps. keep chilled while preparing apples.
  3. 3in a medium bowl combine apples, allspice, cloves, nutmeg and honey. toss well to coat.
  4. 4place apples in baking dish. sprinkle topping over apples.
  5. 5bake until filling bubbles thickly and topping is crisp and deep golden brown, about 40 minutes. let stand 10 minutes before serving.
