Ingredients (16)

  • 2 Tablespoons of Olive Oil
  • 1 Tablespoon of Butter
  • 1 Tablespoon of Chopped Garlic Cloves
  • 1/2 Cup of Chopped Onions
  • 1 twelve ounce can of Tomato Sauce
  • 1/3 Cup of Fig Vinegar
  • 1/3 Cup of White Vinegar
  • 1/3 Cup Molasses
  • 1/2 Cup of Brown Sugar
  • 1/2 Cup of Yellow Mustard
  • 1 Tablespoon of Cinnamon
  • 2 Tablespoons of Paprika
  • 1 Tablespoon of Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon of Cayenne Powder
  • 1/2 Teaspoon of Cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Garlic, Fig, and Cinnamon BBQ Sauce

I know, Fig? Yep, have you ever bought fresh Fig Vinegar from your local farmer’s market? BBQ sauce already has vinegar, but you might as well try one with rich flavor. It’s delicious. Whole Foods also sells a delightful fig vinegar in their bulk section.

And Cinnamon? Try it, you’ll like the earthy flavor it gives the sauce. The garlic is an obvious choice. And there’s a lot more in this sauce then meets the title.

Instructions

  1. 1Saute all of butter, olive oil, galic and onions in a sauce pan on Med-High heat until brown.  Add a little Salt and Pepper.
  2. 2Mix all of the remaining ingredients together .  Add a little water if you want your sauce thinner. 
  3. 3Once the onions and garlic are nice and brown, pour the sauce into the sauce pan and simmer on low for one half hour. Serve it over beef, chicken, ribs, and sausage. YUM!
