A good mulled wine is one of the coziest things you can sip in the cooler months. Crazy Ex-Girlfriend star Gabrielle Ruiz was introduced to mulled wine while on her first trip to England; it’s become a holiday season staple for her, and is likely to become one for you as well, once you taste the warm blend of red wine, orange slices, and sweet spices like cloves, cinnamon, and star anise.

Tips for Christmas

Instructions

  1. 1Place cloves, allspice, and star anise in cheesecloth bag or tea ball.
  2. 2Combine cloves and allspice, red wine, cinnamon sticks, and nutmeg in slow cooker.
  3. 3Cook on high 1 hour. Reduce heat and simmer 2-3 hours.
  4. 4Garnish individual servings with orange slices.
