Butter Tart Filling

Ingredients (6)

  • 1/3 cup Butter
  • 1 cup Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Cream
  • 1/2 cup Currants
  • 1 Egg - lightly beaten
  • 1 tsp Vanilla

Another of my mother’s holiday favorites. Can’t have Christmas without butter tarts.

Use your favourite pastry recipe to make tart shells or use this filling on frozen shells.


  1. 1Preheat oven to 450
  2. 2Beat all ingredients together
  3. 3Fill tart shells 2/3 full. No more than 2/3 unless you really like cleaning your oven.
  4. 4Bake for 8 minutes at 450 then reduce heat to 350 and bake until fully browned.
