Ha!
You sure it's not too much westerly exposure on that corner office @2550?

Too much sparkle reflecting off the glass from the bayfront?

Sledge or Treb..
Since you lived or live now in San Diego, you should know that the best corn is from the famous farm stand in the Rancho Santa Fe area called Chino's.

My psychic vibe says you're still here in SD. .never left!

Love El Especial and I like to swing by afterwards to the infamous dive bar, Leucadian..what a riot, that place is!

I was in a remote part of Catalina Island, couple of years ago with friends on a boat at Two Harbors and there was the bartender, with his fancy boat and we both recognized each other, tho' I've only been a couple of times but I had to laugh for one, of all the places remotely in the world to see him and second, he had a gorgeous boat, that was really nice..

That's what makes it so frustrating is that they are easy peasy to make and a small Mom and Pop Donut place could crank those little love bombs out and really bring a little bit of the islands, to SD.

For me, a fab cheese plate with some figs, nuts and crusty bread is lovely.
I like a good port but its not mandatory.
I have a thing for crème brulee too.

Yeah, you got a point on the biker thing up in North County on the 101 vs back country.

Kountry Kitchen has a loyal following for breakfast and it is good.
I like Ramona Café too...it was selected as DDD by Guy Fieri, which can make it quite busy at times but it is very good.
For a Mex breakfast, Mariscos mar de Cortez is excellent and really good for fresh Mariscos too!

They never make hash browns as crispy as I want them.
I ask for them super extra crispy and it's like asking for a 10 heat index at a Thai resto, they never give you what you want.

Thanks OC and set!

Going with friends for a long weekend in a couple of weeks and we see that Taco Maria on Saturday night, has the prix fixe menu only..but it is a must try...hear that the brunch isn't all that.
Staying in Newport.

Would love a Thai or Vietnamese place in Garden Grove area.

Back in the day, after seeing relatives in Lido/Balboa, we'd hit up Woody's Wharf and then dance it off at the Rueben E. Lee...LOL

San Diego is summertime, almost year round but the actual summer here means beach time and pool.

Grilling with chicken breast, chicken kabobs with tons of fresh veggies and Chino corn.
Watermelon juice, watermelon mojitos, watermelon marg's
Sapphire & tonics with juicy Mexican limes
Hibiscus iced tea

Jicama, mango, red onion, fresh diced jalapenos salad with a dash of sesame oil
Tomato sandwiches with chips squished inside with tons of mayo,
sea salt, fresh ground pepper..
Salads!! I've been told I am the salad queen..love fresh healthy salads, with seafood/grilled chicken/Ahi (rare), avocado, heirloom tomt's..

Grilled Romaine with a garlic lemon dressing with grilled shrimp, Ahi or chicken...or topped with a Green Goddess dressing or homemade blue cheese or a simple vinaigrette.

Grilled fresh pineapple, watermelon, nectarines and peaches are so delicious.

Body surfing all day and having avocado/sharp cheese/red onion
sandwiches in the picnic basket, along with some Jalapeno Kettle Chips and ice cold Hibiscus Sun Tea..

Aloha

You can eat at the Fox Den Cantina & Bar, at the resort, which is such a lovely place and hasn't really changed in years..
Great cocktails, apps and food.

Love the vibe and we were flying out the morning of 9/11 to Paris for bday/anniversary and since no one was flying anywhere, we went to La Casa de Zorro for several days of reflection on the world and it was the perfect place to energize the soul and reflect on life and humanity..

I will forever be grateful to the resort.

Namaste

Thanks deckape!
Hey, for an old guy, your hazy memory serves you well..
Must be all those fish oil capsules you're consuming but major props for remembering Clay...he was a cool, older soulful guy, that was much beloved.

Do you recall the name that was a freestanding, gussied up build to suit Resto, across from Bully's LJ?

My dad loved Barrett Junction's Fish Fry in that dilapated Quonset hut..divey good but my take is that it was so far out there, you were starving and didn't care, by the time you got those greasy fish bombs...

I was always on lookout for the Procter Valley monster, so, hence, I was a wreck, with all those Appalachian hillbillies, milling about.

I swear I think I saw Sasquatch too but could of been a biker dude.

Thanks deckape!

Star Noodle in Lahaina, Maui, has this simple but incredible dessert of little malasada bombs, served with a trio of nuts, hot fudge and caramel..

www.tripadvisor.com/LocationPhotoDire...

Even Leonard's Malasada's on O'ahu filled with cream or passion fruit cream, would rock it in SD, since most of us go on holiday to the islands.

Also, love me a good cheese plate for dessert or a hot fudge sundae with extra hot fudge, throw in some salty peanuts and maybe a banana and I'm one happy chick.

I find most desserts in SD are the standard, pedestrian fare desserts but have heard fab things of the Yodel at J&I.

The Messy Sundae at Sammy's is worth going into, just for that...putting on flame throwing shield!

I'll give our Grammy award Mayor, Steve Vaus a call and find out what the hell is going on...
We can't have that kind of blight going on in gussied up Poway!

Anyone remember Clay's BBQ on LJ Blvd?
Still love going into Jalisco's Café in Imperial Beach and El Juan's in National City.
What is the name of the Fish Fry place out by Jacumba, on the way to Tecate?

Is that off Community rd, near Randy Jones old place?
With all the NFL and Baseball players living in Poway, one of them should buy that location and rehab into the glory it once was!

Nothing like a Mex breakfast of frijoles, avocado, scrambled eggs, jalapenos and wrapped up in a fresh warm flour tortillas, pat of butter, with kick ass taqueria hot sauce and a cold Pacifico!

In Australia, I've seen a small side of pinto beans and a half baked tomato which I make at home for breakfast in San Diego.

Love my French Press but what a pain in the arse it is to clean, so last month, bought a Aero Press and WOW!! Love how good the coffee taste and so easy to clean!

Highly recommend the Aero Press!

Just seeing this..
So sad and as long time friend and fan of The Fish Market, hope that restoration takes little time to open up for 4th of July weekend.

'Bad news for Beach Chick. Hopefully she will adapt and Su Casa can pick up the Nacho slack.'

LOVE that deckape!
Hopefully, I can adapt but don't know if Su Casa can pick up that Nacho slack tho'.

In regards to Alfonso moving operations to Hillcrest, IMO, I don't feel that locale is best for him...if he went outside the 8 mile sphere, east bound and down, he would have cheaper rents, less competition and be better received, demographically.

Just my two aloha cents.

Booked the Inn at Sea Island and got the last room for the long holiday weekend...saved me $400 a night vs the Cloister's!

Can't wait to eat, drink and see the islands..
Thanks so much!

We did a tour of Stonehenge, along with Salisbury with the key, being inside of the rocks...which is, IMO, the only way to go..met at Kings Cross.
It was reasonable in cost vs doing it on our own.

Had a pint and some pub food at the Red Lion, in Salisbury.

Would of loved to have dined at The Red Lion in East Chisenbury.

BTW, I ride motocross and I couldn't think of a nicer group of guys to hang with and would love for them to wait on me but its usually me getting the beers/food and loving every minute of it!
