Hello Buffalonians, a few of the boys are coming to your beautiful city to watch the Sabres and Leafs game Saturday and were looking for some awesome fun dinner recommendations... Something close to the Key Bank Centre would be ideal... We're not picky on what we eat, just want something that is stand out awesome with a great atmosphere, close to the arena!

All suggestions appreciated!

A group of us are meeting in Chicago next week and want the best Chicago style deep dish pizza. We'll be in the Steeterville area and hitting a cubs game for sure!!! Any other suggestions for first time visitors would be appreciated too!

The 80's had some amazing tasting chips period. Those were Hostess before Hostess were bought by Lays. If you remember Lays chips were gawd awful!!! until they purchased Hostess and basically swapped the labeling on the hostess bags to the Lays brand. Not sure if they have since changed the recipe however I enjoy the different PC choices for flavoured chips

Mmmmm Lobster Bisque, then Lobster Risotto or the Butter Poached Lobster and end with the Crème Brûlee or Moist Orange Syrup Cake.

Noooo, they've never renovated that location. It was truely "old school" Swiss Chalet. But I can't imagine why the would close other than to renovate??? That place was jammed every day! Maybe they're doing the Major new and improved upgrade?

This was not one day, or an isolated experience. If you read through TBP threads you'll see this is the norm rather than the exception.

“Service with a smile” is a figure of speech. All I really expect is the guy to just not be a jerk, get my order right and ahead of the the 7 people behind me. fyi- bad service is offensive and disrespectful.
@ Aser, could not have said it better!

You know, even if I loved this place (*I don't*) I would not be able to justify the issues with the queue, and unfriendly service. NO excuse can adequately explain these shortcomings. Regardless of volume it's a simple principle "First one in, First one out" no exceptions... The only exception to this rule LOL would be the complexity of a specific order item. And as for service, if you choose to open your doors to accept my money I expect you to do so with a smile, or at the very least without the attitude. "Sorry I bothered you, I won't do it again!"
BTW. How's that "special, secret facebook menu" working out for you?!?!?

Never mind "bad experience" that's all this place is... A bad experience! as full tummy said "the burger isn't any better than something I can make with some fresh ground beef in my frying pan. In fact, mine would be better" Tru D'at!!! could not agree more.

Bad service at Canoe, Really? that's a surprise (dripping sarcasm)

I could not agree more Fresserguy... I personally don't believe the 5 guys or TBP hype. I tried 5 guys at South common on Saturday and although I was satisfied I was not WOW!!! The current trend appears to be a thin formed patty of fresh meat burger. If that’s what I’m getting I can run over to Metro, purchase some ground meat, form a patty myself and make that in my own frying pan (fancy name for flattop) My mother’s been doing this for 100 years who knew she was gourmet? lol

See that's total BS just on the principal... What next???

$11.25 for a cheddar burger
25 cents for lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion
$2.25 for a bun
$3.75 surcharge for preparation???

Although we have a lot of chains dedicated to wings.... It occured to me that we could improve those threads. think it would be great to add a little added bonus to that popular discussion.

Please list your favourite place for wings add include any specials or incentives they my have i.e Half price wing nights!?!?!

Example; my favourite wings are The Tara Inn on Eglinton (Scarborough) Half price wings every Wednesday.

Eewwwwww The Working Dog is terrible LOL... for old school pub feel with good wings the only option IMO is The Tara Inn on Eglinton Ave. 1/2 price wings on Wednesday's

OMG! Perfect for this Board... Massey's just reminded me of one of the best buger places ever!!! Big M's on Liverpool in Pickering. Exceptional Fresh and real burgers topped the way you like by Very friendly staff! with those thick-battered old-school onion rings! FYI the rings have a uniqueness that I can't put my finger on? But over all, burger Awesomeness with a side of rings please!

I was just driving along Lawrence and it appears that Farhat has packed up shop! Am I wrong, were my eyes deceiving me?

I'm really glad that I can piggy back on a fellow Hounders experience of TBP... Based on all the hype and rage a couple of us checked it out Friday and all I can say is SADLY DISAPOINTED!!! I wanted to love this place I really did.

Firstly: The place is tiny Sorry I mean TINY... Note to self, We can live with that. Not worth complaining about.
Secondly: The guy at the counter not very friendly or welcoming... Note to self, it was busy and really, were here for the burger not the service. not worth complaining about.
Thirdly: Everything on the burger is à la carte... Note to self, I guess I should be happy the bun wasn't extra lol not worth complaining about. But, I mean really? à la carte. Everything???
Fourthly: The burger... the burger was........ OK? it wasn't out of this world and it certainly was not exceptional? yes it was fresh, but it wasn't anything that any of us couldn't throw together at home.

fifthly: and this is where I the wheels fall off completely… . So looking past the size of the place, the size of the burgers, the à la carte Everything??? And the mediocre service.. As we were leaving we happened to notice a couple of guys eating burgers. “Wait a minute, Hold the phone”… Their burger looks vastly more impressive than anything we saw on the menu, Pourquoi??? The following conversation goes something like this…

Us; Hey that looks great. What burger is that?
Them; The Vatican burger”
Us; We didn’t see that on the menu”
Them; It’s not on the menu, it’s a “special item”
Us; special item?
Them; Yeah it’s on “the secret menu”
Us; what secret menu?
Them; they have a secret menu that’s only available through facebook it’s a REALLY COOL idea
Us; Facebook?
The guy behind the counter; Yeah we have secret menu items that are only posted on facebook, it’s a REALLY COOL idea.
Us; Walk out thinking WTF???

Note to self, It’s a really STUPID idea but not worth complaining about because we’ll never be back.

WTF?
