My daughter just did this. No straws, first off, it will pull on the stitiches. No salt, secondly, it burns. Clear broth (buy wanton soup without the wontons, although it often has salt) sipped first day, tea (his appetite will be off, anyway). When he can, second or third day: more broth, very, very pureed potatoes or veggies, watery farina, apple sauce, scrambled eggs, puddings. Remember, too, that if he is taking pain killers, he will be binded, so maybe you want to get some prune juice.

I do baked ziti. Tastes great, can be premade, served room temp, no fuss or mess, and kids love it. Garlic bread on the side and you're done. 35 kids? Hmmm, thirty five bottles of soda ( I don't know where they put it.), and small cups because they forget where they put it down. Oh, and don't forget those big black garbage bags...and about four thousand napkins.

I made a strawberry rhubarb pie on Saturday and it came out watery, even if it did taste terrific. I added no butter or any liquid of any sort, and yes, I did add about three tablespoons flour mixed in with the sugar. Someone told me that rhubarb has to be roasted for hours before used, to dry it out. That doesn't sound right, but maybe... Can anyone suggest what I'm doing wrong?

I would like to give my son-in-law a beer making kit for the holdiay. Any opinions or recommendations? Thank you.

Hi All. I am serving company tonight: salad and parmesan toasts, kasha varnishkes, fruit salad. I would like to serve a side dish with the kasha that would balance with the rest of the meal. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thank you.

My daughter (also going back to school) just found this place last week and swears that it is amazing, and amazingly cheap.

Thanks for all that information! I think I will take Scott's advice and save it for another recipe.

Hi,
I bought a two-pound bar of bittersweet chocolate, instead of unsweetened. Is it interchangeable with unsweetened for baking a cake? If so, how? Thank you.

I brine, any recipe will do, and the way I do it is I clean out a joint compound container and leave it all on the deck for two days. One less thing in an overly filled frig.

If you do not take it out by Tuesday (to the fridge, I assume), the innards will stll be frozen on Thursday and difficult to stuff. Not to mention, impossible to remove the giblets without a long screwdriver! (Been there, done that.)

I totally agree and I live in NYC. I have been trying less popular fish with a good deal of success. Tilapia, bass, etc.

Thank you! I got an email from them, but I can't be sure of their quality and they are more expensive than others. The Wall Street Jounral liked the Cajun Grocer, and they are half the price, so I am unsure. Hence, my post. I have to say, though, that turdunckens are commonly judged to be dry. I just wanted to cook something different.
