Received a gift certificate with all ES restaurants as options. Thoughts on not to miss opportunities?

Thanks so much for these great recommendations. Could you say more about Somali places? The best one's, recommended dishes? That sounds interesting to me...My city has several great Vietnamese places, so would like to explore Somali.

Thanks! I love interesting ethnic, I'll be coming from Reno where we do pretty well with mexican and basque and thai, but I'd love recs for other things maybe a specialty of the area? Willing to walk a long way. Or bus. Or taxi.

Attending a conference mid june, eager to sample really good not to miss chow-worthy places. Suggestions?

Question...a rehearsal dinner for about 25, must be tables in a separate room or a small place that would close for a friday night in September. Casual, inexpensive, delicious. Any thoughts?

I love this place too. Their sope's, they will do it with shrimp if you ask, super chewy fresh corn base. Yum... I've been eating here for years and agree it is the best.

I am going to start the marinade, bought my first banana leaf, has anyone made this?

Any new input on this place? I hate to see a new, wonderful place go un-sampled by chowhounds!

I agree with those who like Campo, I think it is wonderful.

I also really love Bowl. The chef from Sezmu, as has been noted. So delicious and casual...and a nice bonus is to be able to get wine from the wine bar next door. They have their own wine, and the wine bar has great options.

I think of that little west street market area as kind of like a very high end food court, options ranging from Bowl, Raw, the greek place, Z-pie, and Beaujolais bistro all available to order from and you can all eat from different wonderful restaurants at the same table.

I also love that you can meet friends in the courtyard area, and just keep adding tables yourself to the table based on who shows up. Really an inviting and delicious food community!

First of all, it is on W. 2nd street, and is called "Fresh Creations". No mention of Thai. It is in a quiet, cozy old house. And...wonderful Thai food. Only Thai. And a cooking school every Tuesday night if enough signups.

I had lunch there this week, they are open for dinner as well. Really a chowworthy destination! I look forward to hearing reports!

I'm interested in trying this for about a 20 pound bird, but my family is worried as they always love a wet brined result.

Has anyone tried this yet?

Just dined (for the second time) at this little tiny jewel of a sushi place in the Siena Hotel. Chowhounds, try it! The two sushi chef's I have met are clearly passionate about their work, and their pride and artistry shines through. I think it is very chow-worthy and I look forward to your reactions. I think it is the best in Reno. Let's see if there is agreement!

I'll be in Bogota for two weeks, staying near the Konrad Lorenz University. I know nothing about this neighborhood, what will I be able to find to eat that is typical and interesting? I'd love to be able to walk around the area, what is this area like?

Spanish sauteed spinach with pine nuts, raisins, and garlic. So good! REcipe in the New Spanish Table.

I love this recipe, it is beautiful with purple cabbage, carrots, and sweet potato.

I have been there, twice. The first time for their soft opening/holland project fundraiser. The second time for lunch. I never ate at Sezmu, though was aware that it was a top local restaurant. Anyway, i loved Bowl. The first time, I had the duck confit. It was delicious, served over polenta and greens. The duck was very similar to 4th Street Bistro's duck confit (my favorite dish), and I was told that the Bowl chef had cooked at 4th street in the past. The second time, I had cioppino, which was also very good. This place is wonderful! A great addition to downtown. And relatively inexpensive...Both of my dishes were around 12 dollars (I don't remember exactly).

Hurry! If you know what I mean....

Really, I think the executive chef really is creative and knows what he is doing. Not open for lunch except on weekends, at this point.

I went to Commrow (the new hotel/highest climbing wall in the world), between 2nd and 3rd and Virginia. They have a few little eateries, tonight I tried one with a greek vibe. I ordered grilled swordfish on a tabouli salad. It was absolutely fantastic, and only $6.00. Really, every bite was delicious. Other restaurants are an Italian hoagie place, Mexican place, and a raw bar. Really, hurry, go and check out these places. Eager to hear other chowhound commentary!

Thanks, I'll check it out. I could order from Penzeys but was trying to avoid the shipping charge!

Not at Whole Foods, World Market, Raley's, the Middle Eastern Store on 7th. Any ideas?

I noticed a little storefront on Wells, "Olivia's Ice Cream". Has anyone tried it? I'm so curious, but haven't had a chance to stop yet.

Has anyone tried this new Thai place on the corner of Second and Sierra? The menu looks great, the interior is beautiful, but I have not yet tried it. What is the story?

I made it with lima beans. It was great. I added more carrots, (four not one) and shallots in addition to one onion. Good with a little feta on top (but not necessary).

Travel to Florence in October, one member of our party has a severe fish/shellfish allergy. Where are good places to eat where no fish are prepared on the premises? He will have a severe reaction if even around the cooking of fish....Thanks!

I have 1 week old master white bread dough in the frig, would like to put it in a pot ala bitmann recipe. Any advice?
