That's too bad b/c I have such fond memories of their chocolate "bar" and of Cesar, the hot chocolate somelier! I was planning to take friends there in a few weeks, but I may pass on that now. I heard that the Four Seasons has started a hot chocolate bar of some sort. Has anyone tried it? If so, please give details!

Yes, Indonesa Restaurant is good and definitely worth trying. Some dishes are *extremeley spicy and all the dishes I've tried there have been really tasty. Excellent prices too

I'd go to Chinatown--Vietnam has beautiful decor and wonderful food. Pretty quick service too which key during the workday. Penang is great too--can get really crowded though.

what 'other' site? also, does snack bar have a web site yet?

I would like to go to a wine store tomorrow--I hear that there's a really wonderful one near Philly--perhaps it's in Cherry Hill? I think the name starts with an 'M' but am unsure. Please help!

I'd like to go to a great wine store in South Jersey. Coming from Philly and don't want to drive too far. I have heard of a great one, but can't recall the name. I think it starts with an "M"?

Thanks so much for these suggestions--very helpful! I will stear clear of Barton G!

I'm looking for recs for a sit-down dinner for 12 where food is excellent, ambiance is gorgeous, and experience is very S. Beach. I know there are tons of great restaurants in Miami but being that it's a bachelorette party, most people want to be on S. Beach. I've been to the Blue Door but sat inside and think it may be too quiet for a group. Is Shore Club good? What else? Thanks!

I'll be in University City tomorrow evening, and would like to go for a good, inexpensive meal around 40th and Walnut area. I was thinking about one of the Thai restaurants there (Pattaya and Thai Singha), but I haven't read many good reviews about either. Have any of you been to either of these restaurants lately? Any recs for good eats around the area? Thanks!

I don't think anyone has mentioned Ernesto's yet. I love going there before shows. Excellent service and consistent, delicious food. I love the back room.

I actually went to Budakkan last night for dinner. I ate the black cod and it was perfect, not too sweet. I also had the duck and it was wonderful as well. I've always enjoyed my food at budakkan. What i didn't enjoy last night was the noise level and sitting on the communal table--i dont recommend going on fri or sat night. to truly enjoy your experience, try to find a relatively quiet corner on a wed or thur night. i find that servers are more attentive as well.

I had Bootsie's for the second time this evening, and was pleased with my experience. Yes, the prices are much higher than fast food chains. But the burgers are so tasty. Both times they were cooked as I specified (Medium) and were so juicy and succulent. The buns are really tender, and have a sweetness to them (I believe they're multigrain). they are huge in size and flavor. I dont think people are eating there b/c of the prices. Bootsie's needs to cut down on packaging, get rid of some of the plasma t.v.s, and perhaps close earlier in the evening--maybe they'll be able to eventually pass on the savings to customers.

Thanks for the suggestions. acutally my mom-in-law isn't too fussy about traditional american food. we're all indian so we do the best we can, and often mix indian/american food together. for those of us born and raised in U.S. though, we appreciate traditional american comfort food like mashed potatoes!

I will be making many of our family's Thanksgiving side dishes this year (First time at the in-laws so I have to impress them!) I would like to make 3-4 easy, sophisticated side dishes. Thinking potatoes, perhaps a grits casserole type of thing? But Would like some more ideas--maybe for veggies and stuffing. Thanks!

How about Penang in Chinatown (Tasty food, quick service, lively atmosphere, and inexpensive) or Rangoon (One of my fav restaurants in Chinatwon)? I like Miran Korean in C.City too. Mexican restaurants on Wash. Ave are a good option too.

There will be 5-6 of us. My only concern about Bar Ferdinand is that it may be out of the way for folks coming from work. It's a Tues night so i wanted a place easy for folks to come and go to. I've been to Mid-town too many times. Any BYOs in CCity that arent't too quiet?

I love Amada, but I think it's too expensive for this group. How's parking by Bar Ferdinand?

Any recs for *fun restaurants for a group of women (1 is vegetarian)? We'll be going on a Tuesday night, and want a place with GREAT ambiance and equally good food in either Center City or old city. Nothing too fancy. Your recs would be really appreciated.

Le Figaro is great fine dining in downtown Moline. Also am a fan of Happy Joe's pizza and Le Mekong. Am a big fan of Village Inn for breakfast.

I just can't believe how bad the Indian food is in Philly. They're all Punjabi (but not authentic at all), greasy, tasteless. Usually service is terrible too. I wonder why Philly is lacking good Indian restaurants?! NYC, D.C., Houston, LA have wonderful, authentic Indian restaurnts. I crave Indian food all the time and am always at a loss as to where to go for a good, home-style Indian meal. I heard Palace of Asia is opening in Philly soon. Anyone know when it'll open?

I love the ambiance of naked chocolate, and have enjoyed their teas, liquid chocolate, and truffles. I really, really want to love their cupcakes but I don't! I've tried their cupcakes on 3 different occasions---each time they have been so dry and flavorless. I liked the chocolate cupcake w/peanut butter frosting the best b/c the frosting was so good--nice sweet/salty taste. But the cake is always a disappointment.

I went to Tony Luke's today because I saw the "throwdown" challenge between Bobby Flay and Tony Luke on the Food Network last night. All I could think about when I woke up was a cheesesteak! Anyway, I'm not a cheesesteak expert at all but I thought Tony Luke's cheesteak (w/whiz, fried onions) was really good. What made it for me was the bread. My husband had a cheesteak w/ sharp provolone and rabe and it was really tasty. actually it didnt taste like a cheesesteak at all.
