Looking for a place that sells ice cream bonbons or truffles (which I would define as slightly smaller) in Greater Boston. Please don't suggest making my own - this is for a wedding and I'm not up for going into production! Thanks.

I would second Portsmouth. Also there are a bunch of good new places in Kittery ME, just over the border - downtown, not near the outlet malls!

thanks all. we'll stay one night in Flag, near our niece, then two in Sedona. Hiking is definitely high on the agenda. not making it to GC this trip.

Now I have lots of great suggestions for Sedona. What about Flagstaff on a Saturday with a poorly paid grown up neice in tow?

Hello from the Boston board. We are traveling to Sedona and Flagstaff next month and trying to decide where to stay. I think we'd be best off close to where we'll be eating dinner! So the food question is - which has better restaurants? I have searched the board and gotten great Sedona rec's so I suspect I know the answer, but I figured I'd give Flag a chance to make its case! Thanks.

I second ICOB - lots of space between tables and good sound deadening. The bar was a little noisy, but don't let that put you off.
Lineage in Coolidge Corner was almost too quiet last NYE

Four of us went last night. I liked my mackeral curdo app (a special) and the saffron pasta (with lobster and calamari) was good. Others like their margherita pizza and another pasta. The verdict on the chicken was generous portion (half chicken) but oversauced... putting the same sauce on chicken, brussel sprouts and carrots was just too much sameness. The autumn salad seemed nice, tho one came without the cheese. Ordered roasted cauliflower for the table, which came as a single huge floret with a sort of strange taste - anchovies?

Wait staff figured out that we were Rendezvous regulars and was very gracious, telling us repeatedly that she hoped we'd be regulars there too. Our consensus was that we'd eat there again if we were to be in Central Sq (we are Central Sq Theater subscribers) but that we probably would not go out of our way to return.

I went this morning, arriving around 8:35. While I waited for my friend, I watched the line (which was easily contained in the store). It seemed to move pretty quickly. My friend, who got her shmear on the side, was handed her bagel and coffee right away. Mine took maybe 2 more minutes. So today they were far more efficient. And my everything (which really was just sesame and poppy) with cream cheese with scallion was good. Not life changing, but good. But they don't have decaf coffee and the regular coffee was totally uninspired.

BUT $4 with shmear seems too pricey for everyday. I certainly was not going to buy a dozen at those prices. Why pay so much to love the texture in the freezer?

Coming to Seattle next week, staying at Hyatt at Olive 8 Saturday, Sunday and Monday. Anyplace to get a real breakfast near there? (Found lots of bakery recs on the board). Thanks

went last night on the early side (6 ish) and there were plenty of empty tables. The toast of the day came with egg salad and arugla and it was excellent. Double awesome with pastrami also great. Bacon fried rice would have been a standout anyplace else, but it was third place behind the others. (yes, we had three dishes with eggs). those three dishes were enough for an early quick pre-movie dinner. Good beer list now. And I love their parklet with solar powered lights and phone charging stations. Not sure if you can take your beer outside...

Friends report a sign on Dodakin's used car lot and inspection garage on Beacon St on the Cambridge Somerville line for a hearing to change the zoning to a restaurant. Anyone know anything?

I needed someplace that 7 of us, including a wheelchair user and a walker user, could have a reasonably-priced dinner on a Monday near Cambridge, where we could park close by and hear each other talk. Finding someplace that met all our requirements was not easy. One favorite would not let such a big party order off the regular menu. Several places are closed on Mondays. Lots of Cambridge restaurants seem to have rest rooms in the basement. Too many are so cacophonous that we would not have had the kind of visit we envisioned.

We ended up at Temple Bar, which was perfect. In the end, only 6 folks came and only 5 actually ate a full meal. Nevertheless, the brand new waitress was attentive and helpful. The food was really good too! Figured this was a good way to show them some love.

My SO returned from coffee with a local foodie with the news that a REAL bagel maker is eying a location on Mass Ave between Harvard and Porter Sqs. Anyone know more?

I had a good meal there a few months ago, even tho we ordered badly and got two dishes to share that were too similar. Nice people and loved the pickles instead of bread

I need to find someplace for lunch convenient to the train station and 91 or 95. I know New Haven, but she does not and needs someplace easily reached from the highway. Also, we will probably want to linger, so not someplace with a line out the door on a June Tuesday... Any ideas? Lenny and Joe's?

Rendezvous will close sometime after June 21 but definitely by the end of the month. We've been twice in the last few weeks. The staff is still all there, working hard and the food is still terrific.

Anyone know the timeline on Abbey on Mass Ave in Cambridge (between Porter and Harvard)?

I wrote a post about Tryst then saw I was repeating myself. Sorry!

Used to be sold as picnic chicken, cold on the second day.. which I guess would be Tuesday, really cheap.

I also like AFC (Arlington Fried Chicken) on Tuesdays at tryst, to benefit Arlington nonprofits. Best to reserve your meal in advance.

But Coast Cafe is my #1 choice. Sides are nothing special... pick up a salad at Whole Foods down the street first.

Thank you all. We had a marvelous dinner at Sea Change before theater. Absolutely the highlight of the weekend. Enjoyed breakfast at Buttered Tin and a quick lunch at Mickey's, so thanks for all that. Saturday dinner did not have to be walkable so we settled on Moscow on the Hill, which was fun. We don't have a good Russian restaurant in Boston, so it was a nice change. (Wedding party convened at Sea Salt for lunch, which was also great. And brunch at Amsterdam, which my companions seemed to like.)

Wasn't until I walked around the hotel that I realized that meritage and heartland are in that neighborhood, creating confusion re: our mobility for Sat dinner. Sorry! We did have a car and loved exploring your beautiful cities.

Thanks! We have reservations at Sea Change for Thursday and my husband is so happy with the breakfast ideas.

Friday night we can go anywhere - the post dinner party is in Minneapolis and we have a car. There are 5 of us, so bar probably won't work. Any thoughts on Lucia?
