Just a lover of good food, wine and service

Take a look at La Sirena- fantastic food and cocktails- and an amazing, off the radar tomahawk steak which is to die for!! For Peking Duck, try Peking Duck house in Chinatown.

Try Trama's Trattoria in Long Branch- seriously authentic pasta's. Easy to get to from Freehold.

Uma is fantastic if you can get in. We had a great time at Spoonik- a different type of dinner. Also try Disfrutar and Viana. So many places, so little time.

Just do a little research here on Chowhound and also Trip Advisor- that will give you some idea of where to go. Good tip: make your reservations now for anyplace popular you want to go to. Here’s one of my favs, Blavis.

Good luck and have fun.

We've been to Blavis several times and it's fantastic! Paco is a fantastic host and we make sure we come back here on each trip. Having been to Tickets, I would say that if you could get into Disfrutar, you'll have a more spectacular experience.

+1 for skipping Boqueria for lunch and go to Cerveceria Catalana. Just a lot more sane and the food is great.

On our next trip (in three weeks), we're also going to Cometa Pla and Viana, which both look amazing! Finally, if you can get into UMA- wonderful food and atmosphere..

Enjoy!!

Came here for the first time the other night and sat at the front bar with the incredible mixologist Christopher James. We started with two aperitif drinks and then ordered four courses of food. Christopher did cocktail pairings for each course which were so brilliantly made we totally enjoyed each and every one!

Our food choices ranged from their excellent cacio e pepe oysters, grilled octopus (really good),their amazing buttered lobster roll, and finally the seared tuna.

Edie the owner was a wonderful host and we had an excellent time from the time we walked in until our final cocktail with dessert.

26 West not only is a beautiful restaurant, but has a vibe that makes you want to come back here again and again.

Great night and we look forward to trying more of Christopher’s amazing cocktails in the near future!

John, Just found out Les Arlots is closed on Sunday, should we add Clown Bar for lunch...or do you have another great idea? THANK YOU!!

John, your response was easily the best reply I’ve every gotten on all my years of posting here on CH. We’re doing this trip in early October and plan on doing exactly what you suggest— eat until we drop!!

Thanks again for making our night here in New York!!

John: indeed we haven’t done it yet. What would to take out so we don’t over do it? I have eight reservations and have to go to Kitchen Ter(re) and I think Pierre Sang. Other than that I’m changeable. Would love your opinions

We're in Paris for four days, here's my projected food itinerary- would love your comments on it and what I may be missing:

Day 1: Lunch: L' Ami Jean Dinner: L'Arcane
Day 2: Lunch: Le Arlots Dinner: Pierre Sang Gambay
Day 3: Lunch: KGB Dinner: Restaurant AT
Day 4: Lunch: Les Tablettes Dinner: Kitchen Ter(re)

Thank you!!

He prefers cash but I 100% payed by credit card- so don't worry

Whatever, it’ll be one of the great sushi experiences ever!!

We paid about 525 US and had five carafes of sake as recommended by the Chef. 100% great value for the price

Perfect then...you'll have a fabulous meal in a very casual setting..make sure they DON'T give you their private room...you don't feel like you're in the restaurant.

Yes, lunch would be perfect here. We thought the food was good to excellent, (with dinner being 10000 yen a great value), but the wine service was poor and the prices very high for their wine bottles. So for you, go for the food!!

Hi Charles: Going back to this post...we're in Tokyo now and were offered two seats to Le Sputnik tomorrow night for dinner.....what do you think? Would you come back here? Let me know!!

Thanks!!

To be honest, I believe he uses different types of shari paired with different types of neta- which are held at different temperatures. I'm not a shari expert..nor a sushi expert for that matter- I just know that Chef Oka is incredible and his omakase is top notch for ME!!!

All I can say is that we'll be at SushiSho Masa this Friday night for the fourth time-easily one of the great meals of your life. He will stop whenever you want and charges you accordingly- but I'm sure there's a minimum price per person- I wouldn't know as I've eaten over 45 courses on each of my visits so far. I can't speak about the rice- all I know it's fabulous!!

Take a look at SushiSho Masa- a fantastic experience at dinner- 45-50 courses (bites)..most of which are blow away amazing!!

Our trip this time looks like this:

First night dinner: Hakushi
2nd day lunch: Hirosaku
2nd night dinner: Sushi Sho Masa
3rd day lunch: Fukamachi
3rd night dinner: L'AS

Any thoughts on these. I've been to Sho Masa three times and he blows me away every time...Any other comments are always appreciated.

THANKS

We stayed at a flat down the block from Retrobottega recently and were lucky to get in without a reservation. I have to say, they'll customize for your seven year old, while feeding you really cool, delicious food. As far as Emma, we liked it so much, we went back twice...it's a wonderful place with a lot of really good, fresh food. The pata negra pie was one of the most memorable items we had on our trip. Highly recommended! Enjoy.

I have to say, I went to Yumi in Sea Bright last night and did omakase with the head chef and he blew us away. This fantastic BYO is expensive for sure...but chef has amazing fish and knows exactly what to do with it. Check this place out!!

We are going to Sushi Shin this time and back to Sushi Sho Masa, which is one of my all time favorites. Have heard a lot of great buzz about Sushi Shin, and Sho Masa is a two to three hour extravaganza. Reservations at both are hard to get and a must!!

Hi Charles: I have called Den many times and they are always booked solid. Do you have any tips to get in there? THANK YOU

If you know anything about Tokyo restaurants, you must leave a credit card deposit. If you don't cancel you pay for one full meal. This said, when you have a friend making multiple reservations for you, you take them and then ask for knowledgeable opinions to help decide.
