Oh, and any brands of wonton wrappers that you would recommend?

Thanks! I've been there once a long time ago to get quail eggs. Last time I stopped by it was closed and for some reason I got it into my head that they were out of business. But I just checked Yelp and there are recent reviews, so I guess it's all good. It's pretty close to me, so I will definitely go there!

Another idea to try more recipes would be to start a cookbook club like the one I read about here:

I absolutely love Eat Your Books! I love cookbooks and had acquired a pretty decent collection, but wasn't using them much because the internet was just so much more convenient for recipe searching. At one point I gave over 30 of them away, and slowed down on purchasing them. Then I became an EYB member (over a year ago) and it's got me using my cookbooks like never before. I also love that now I can search blogs and magazines as well. It's really made my collection so accessible and convenient. My username is babyfork if anyone wants to check out my EYB bookshelf.

I'm in Marin. Where can I purchase fresh wonton wrappers? Thanks!

Looking for frozen artichoke bottoms for stuffing. Marin or San Francisco stores preferred.

Yes, it's too late. I'm making Ryan Farr's recipe for Beef, Bacon and Cheddar Links for the Super Bowl tomorrow. It calls for 2 tbsp of horseradish and I just don't want to kill anyone. I'm sure it's probably fine, but I was one of those kids who grew up during the 80s when they scared the bejeezus out of you about unwrapped candy at Halloween. And also the Tylenol poisonings.... I guess I could test it on myself and if I'm alive tomorrow it should be okay. ;)

I just bought some Fred's Horseradish at Woodland's Market in Marin. It's a refrigerated product. I need to use it tonight, but when I went to open it, I just twisted off the cap and noticed that there was no safety seal of any kind. It just seems kind of odd in this day and age for a food product. The lid wasn't even on especially tight...it twisted off quite easily. Just trying to decide if it's safe to use right now. I'd prefer not to delay my project! Anybody know if this is normal for this product? Thanks!

I'm trying to find a place to buy Kaiser rolls (also called Vienna rolls) in the Bay Area, but preferably Marin (I'm in Kentfield). I'm from NJ originally and just made some homemade Taylor Ham aka Pork Roll. It's traditionally served on a Kaiser roll with a fried egg and cheese. Easy to find back East, but don't see them out here. If you know where I can find them, please let me know. Thanks!

Pork Roll Forever!

Looking to buy a quality eggnog ice cream, preferably in Marin, but will be in SF today, so that works too. Grocery store OR ice cream shop. Thanks!

Looking for a place to buy live lobsters tomorrow. Any recs?

Where can I buy fresh lard in the Bay Area? I know I can render my own, but looking to skip a step. I don't want the shelf-stable hydrogenated stuff on the shelf in the supermarket. Thanks!

There was a thread on this, but it's several years old. Wondering where I can get some fresh sugar cane juice in Marin or SF?

After planning to make pickled figs and fig jam I arrived at the San Rafael Farmer's market today and nary a fig in sight! Whole Foods had some black mission figs, but I really wanted brown turkey or the yellow-green candy-stripe figs. Did I miss them? Anywhere in the Bay Area I can still score some?

I have a feeling I missed the season, but are there any fresh sour cherries being sold in the Bay Area right now? If not, how about frozen?

I need 2 cups of fresh violet flowers. Where can I purchase (or pick) these in the Bay Area? Thanks!

Is the San Rafael Civic Center Farmer's Market open on Easter Sunday? I went to their website and it said open Sundays year-round, but I just thought it might be closed for Easter.

I want to make homemade vinegar & am looking for a place to buy a red wine mother and a white wine mother in the Bay Area. I looked online, but don't want to wait for shipping. I know you can get Bragg's apple cider vinegar with the mother. I'm not looking for that. Thanks!

Thanks! I went to Gathering Thyme and was able to get some of the items I needed, like sassfras and birch bark. Still looking for dried wintergreen leaves though. This one is tough to find even on the internet!

When I lived in SF, Rainbow Grocery was my go-to for spices and herbs that I couldn't find in a typical grocery store. Now I live in San Rafael and am looking for a place that's closer to me. Right now I'm making root beer and need things like dried sassafras root and wintergreen leaves. Any tips?

Looking for a Bay Area butcher where I can buy beef cheeks tonight without pre-ordering. Marin or San Francisco preferred. Thanks!

Looking for a nice hip place for dinner in San Francisco with great food and cocktails that can accommodate a vegan diner in our party. Any tips appreciated. Thanks!

Oh, and not Millennium please! We don't want to go there.

Where can I find a fresh goose to cook for Christmas? Any local producers? I saw the thread from last year, but looks like that person stopped raising geese.

Thanks!

Anyone know at McDonald's in SF that has the Shamrock Shake today? Thanks!

Going out for dinner with a friend from out of town. Looking for great food, and excellent cocktails. Been to NOPA, been to Presidio Social Club, Absinthe, Heaven's Dog so looking to try a different place. Okay if it's on the pricey side. Thanks!
