You can add a ton of different stuff to cream cheese to make a spread (or a dip). Fresh herbs, sun-dried tomatoes, chopped olives, dried figs...whatever floats your boat. If you want a few sandwich suggestions, here's some-

fresh herb and/or sundried tomato cream cheese on wheat, with hummus and roasted veggies

chopped black olive mixed with cream cheese, spread inside a pita with thin-sliced roast beef, sprouts and mustard

baguette with chopped dried fig cream cheese and procuitto, in a panini press

As I sat down to my breakfast of eggs from TJ's, veggies from TJ's, and sausage from TJ's, with a boatload of Franks Red Hot on top, it occured to me that TJ's has never come out with any buffalo sauce or Franks equivelent. Shocking!

My PB cookies are 1+1+1 (or 2+2+2, depending on how many I make)....1 C PB, 1 C sugar, 1 egg. Turns out perfect every time. I've also used brown and white sugar, both are great. The only things I've never done that you did was use the oil-on-top natural PB, the baking soda, vanilla and salt, so my guess is it's one of these things...

YAY to the two (okay three) Tito's and TJ's Kosher dill pickle juice martinis that I made last night! I YAYed the pickles last month, but this month I'm all about the juice!

Thanks for all the replies! I think, based on everyones experience with anesthesia and surgery, I'm going to go the chicken and veggie soup route. Should be comforting and not too high-fiber, so hopefully it won't mess with my friends tummy! And it can be microwaved, so if my friend isn't up to messing with pots and pans he doesn't have to! I think it will pair nicely with some magazines and fresh-fruit (low-sugar) sorbet!

POST-op meal :) He's already lost the weight, so I don't want to make anything unhealthy for after surgery. There's no meal plan, he's just making better choices. After all that hard work, I don't want to tempt him with junky stuff.

Hey! A friend of mine is getting surgery soon, I'd like to swing by with a meal or something. Not sure he's going to be up for baking anything, so would prefer something ready to go room temp or chilled. Also, he has had to lose a LOT of weight for surgery, so I'd like to make something on the healthy side...Any sugestions?

Wurstkurch (I'm sure I spelled it wrong) has a few beers that come with a mug. Medieval Times. Also Barnsdale wine tasting (over for the summer).

UPDATE- I went to my TJ's (West Hollywood) this morning armed with the Gyoza sauce and a pic of my tomatoes with no reciept. Had no problem whatsoever-they didn't need a reason and really didn't care about seeing the pic. Just subtracted it from my bill and that was that.

I've returned things a few times, never with the reciept. I've just brought the package in and explained why I was returning them (although, to be honest, they've never asked- I just felt the need to explain). I know I'm not going to have a problem with the Gyoza sauce, but I've never actually returned anything with just the pic. I also didn't get the TJ's logo in, just the moldy heirlooms, so we shall see...I'll report back and let you know...But yeah, TJ's customer service is usually super great, they will even open a product if you want to taste it before you buy it (also, Whole Foods did the same for me the other day, I didn't even ask but ended up buying the product).

YAY to the new pickles (Kosher dills?) Super sour and crunchy. Very very yummy.

Meh- to the Gyoza sauce (forgive me if I've already reviewed it, total brain fog). The taste is nice, but it's waaaay too salty. And I love salt!!! Going to return, along with the pic of my moldy mini heirlooms :(

What happened to the Raspberry Blossoms??? I've only bought them once, but once I figured out that they were amazing after being in the oven for about 10 minutes, I ate all four in about 18 hours. I haven't gotten them since, but I like to know they are there!!

YAY to their toothbrushes! (I think the brand name is Preserve). Bought on a whim b/c I needed a new one and didn't want to make another stop after TJ's, and I got to say, it's fantastic! The handle has a slight curve to it, making it very comfortable to brush your teeth. Will def be a re-buy.

That light coconut milk (in the green can) is STILL gone...My TJ's (West Hollywood) said they are looking for a new supplier. Sucks. That was my coffee creamer. Still haven't found a subsitute. Their coconut cream has additives, and their refrigerated coconut creamer has sugar. I picked up a few light cans from either WFs or Gelsons (can't remember which) but it's so oily and clearish and seperated, it's almost like pouring coconut oil in my coffee! I use an immersion blender in it to emulsify it a bit, but that's too much work when I just wake up! The TJ's light coconut milk was perfect!!!

You might want to look into the Whole30, it's a 30 day "tune-up" focusing on whole foods, no added sugars, gluten, grains, dairy, legumes and alcohol. It sounds like a drag, but when you focus on what you CAN have (meats, poultry, fish and seafood, veggies, fruits and nuts)...well, it still sounds like a drag. But it's not, I promise. I did one last September and am currently doing one right now. I eat better on the Whole30 than when I'm not, because I'm making everything myself and getting creative with ingredients. (If you're interested, I can give you the recipe for the BEST chicken teriyaki I've EVER had...) Just look it up and read about it-especially the testimonials from the diabetics! All I know is, I've never felt better than when I've followed it (and I LOVE my junk food, bread, cheese and booze!). I ate a LOT and still managed to lose a few lbs without trying (I'm not overweight), my stomach was flat as a board, I had absolutely zero gas or bloat, was VERY regular (sorry, TMI) never got tired in the afternoon, in fact my energy level was ridiculous, and even when the 30 days was up, I found myself making really great food choices. Just look it up! It's great!

Also, drinking apple cider vinegar (with the mother) is supposed to get rid of bad breath :)

YAY to the Healthy 8 veggie mix!! Its loaded with tiny pieces of carrots, broccoli, green peppers, purple cabbage, green cabbage, celery, jicama and radishes. I sauteed a handful in a bit of avocado oil and a few halved mini heirlooms, then mixed with half a shredded chicken breast (that I poached the day before), half a chopped avocado, a mini-handful of alfalfa sprouts, and a quick dressing made from avocado oil, apple cider vinegar and yellow mustard. It sounds weird, but it was FANTASTIC!!! (I'm also on day 3 of the Whole30 so I'm getting a little creative). Definite staple from now on.

Does anyone else find the Gyoza dipping sauce almost unbearably salty? I think it might be a return-I can't see myself ever making a dent in it.

NAY to the sun-dried tomato chicken sausage (pre-cooked, refrigerated). Was like Play-Do formed into a sausage shape. Really turned me off. Didn't have the casing that the garlic and herb ones have (which have been a staple for me for a while now). They reminded me of something, but I can't put my finger on what! They were like a weird meat-paste. No bueno.

Are you referring to the refrigerated ones at Costco? If so, those are actually made by Cederlane, which IMO are the best grape leaves, hands down. But I do like the TJ's ones.

Dammit!! I picked up two pints of soup from a place I rarely get to, since it's over an hour from where I live. Had one last night (along with their delicious rolls), and am having the other tonight...except...I just walked in my kitchen and noticed I left the other pint sitting out! It's been unrefrigerated for about 21 hours...There's no cream in this soup, but there are beans, pasta, and beef broth (and little bits of beef). Is it unedable? I've been SO looking forward to dinner tonight!

Are the chocolate covered cherry, etc the ones that are multi-colored? I saw those in the "new" section the other day, but I know for a fact they've had them for years, because I have bought them in the past, and didn't like them. The consistancy of the fruit was gross and grainy and really sweet. I think with that much chocolate you need a little tartness. The chocolate covered cherries from Harry and Davids are perfect. The TJ's chcolate covered cherries (Billingsly brand? Something like that) aren't to bad. But the mixed fruit are terrible.

Maybe a cold soba noodle salad? Or a curried carrot/coconut soup?

Wait WHAT???? I'm not a cookie butter fanatic, but I AM a cream cheese FREAK!!! I could seriously be into that.

I just had that pizza for dinner last night. I have bought it before, and I think it's a good size and I like the kalamata olives and feta, but yeah...the top never seems to get "done". The instructions say take it out after 10 minutes when the cheese bubbles, but I have never seen the cheese bubble. I left it in for about 4 extra minutes, and it got nice and crispy, but isn't really "pizza" like. More like a bready-cracker with a hot greek cheese dip topping. I REALLY miss their "fresh" i.e. refrigerated pizzas. Those were so good!

What's up with TJ's eggs? Out of the last dozen I bought, I've cracked 10 so far, and 8 of them have been double yolks. Freaky!
And to whoever asked last month, the awesome canned whipped cream is Rock View here in Los Angeles.
