I can help. What's the user name registered? If its still 'walker' there seems to be a walker account registered years ago.

Harters, thanks.

It’s easier when the site is a lot smaller, and it’s done as a fun side hobby rather than as a company meant to feed profit to the corporate overlords.

Speaking from the person who’s running the site.

Hey Charles, the interface may need some getting used to since its different from Chowhound. But trust that the software developers who were veteran forum users before they started the development, painstakingly thought through every feature and every interface options to make sure they were logical and functional. One may or may not agree with their every decision. But the way I look at it is, their interface is another way, and a very good one at that, to navigate a forum. The software is very well supported by both paid and free users given its very large open source user base.

Hi all, I am the tech volunteer of Hungry Onion here and wants to chime in about the interface of the forum software. The site uses a open source discussion forum software called Discourse. I am not the developer of the software and hence has no input to the interface so I am not invested in the interface in that sense.

What I do want to point out is Discourse is one of the best maintained forum out there because of the very large free and paid user base. There is a large development team who handles development of new features as well as maintaining existing features/ debugging. There is also a very active user community providing feedback that's listened to by the developers. So in other words, if something in the software breaks, it will be fixed quickly.

Now back to the interface. While I myself was not hot on either the Chowhound interface or the Discourse interface, I've grown accustomed to the Discourse interface quickly after we started HO. And I believe most users got used to it very quickly as well as we rarely got questions about the interface. So I can navigate around the site very quickly these days. So I encourage you to give it a try. If there is something you need that isn't there yet, please let me know and I can look into it. Let me know also if there is questions. Best to ask over there as I don't come here often.

Here are also some tips that we put together that can help you get started.
