Hello hounds....hoping one of you owns one of these things and can help me out. Am remodeling a large kitchen and buying all new appliances. Love the stainless steel interior one the AGA Marvel refrigerators, and the price. I went to a local dealer today to check them out before ordering and he did everything he could to talk me out of buying it. They did not have one on the floor - looking at model number MPRO48SS-SS.

According to him they don't have one on the floor because they are exceptionally loud and no dealers will install one. He said he knows this for a fact because he was a Marvel rep until 18 months ago. Then he tried to upsell me on a sub-zero.

I had a bad sub-zero experience, and swore I'd never buy another - besides it is a ton more money.

Called Marvel - they don't have any noise testing data and wouldn't comment.

Does anyone have one, know anyone that does or have some first-hand knowledge about this?

Thanks in advance :)

Hey question to all of you...I am installing two dishwashers in the new kitchen and the question is - do you know of any brands that have setups where one dishwasher is pots and pans (heavy duty) and the other is dishes / glasses / cutlery?

For those of you that have two - are they identical?

Thanks.

Hey there I am from DE have a crab trap outside my back door and can give you my basic recipe:

A cereal bowl full of fresh picked blue crab meat (about 4-6 ounces).
4 oz cream cheese
handful of good parmesan cheese
healthy sprinkle of old bay (to taste I use a teaspoon)
hot sauce to taste - I use about 2 tablespoons
Squirt of lemon juice

Mix and bake at 350 until top starts to brown. You can freeze this after baking and it warms up just fine for a quick starter. Goes great with baguette or my family loves bagel chips. Have fun !

Hey I checked this, very interesting. Believe it or not it's a bit more work than Bernard Clayton's Italian Batter Bread made in a food processor. That bread is on my "Make it Forever" list. Great idea cooking it in a cast iron pot tho - will give that a try next time instead of the pizza stone.

Lucky visitor ! If I may suggest...choose Guiness as your beer for braising, or at least a nice traditional porter like Yeungling. I usually mix a couple of tablespoons of the stout with some good grainy mustard as a condiment for the brisket. Have not seen roasted brussell sprouts on the list of sides, but that's always a hit at my house. Have fun !

Guess you've never been to French Polynesia, to where I naively ventured hoping to find Polynesian food. BAH ! French food is all you can get there !

Cowboy cut bone in Ribeye....esp if you can get it Prime. Best cut by far bar none. Hope you had a great meal boyzoma !

I am craving Swanson's Potato Chips. They were made in Jamestown, NY. Cannot find them anywhere online, nor no mention of them whatsoever except for a citation on a Facebook page called "Top 10 Foods of Chautauqua Co."

Does anyone have any idea what happened to them ? Does anyone know how they were made ? I remember you could buy them in 10 pound boxes, and you could by a box of dark chips for cheap...LOVE THOSE CHIPS.

TY !

Guess I'm one of those whackadoodles. I do bring my dog to a restaurant occasionally. It's a good walk for both of us to and from the bistro.

He sleeps on my lap under the napkin and most people don't even notice him. When it's time to leave on goes the leash and off we go.

I would guess that there are other people who do the same that have not caught your attention. So - before you condemn this behavior please consider that some people actually have well behaved dogs that can be a pleasure without bother.

Lots of great posts here...just a couple more cents :+)

I had a 48 inch Garland / Bluestar for 10 years, having bought it from a restaurant that went bust. The 22K BTU burners are amazing, and the 36 inch oven is great if you are cooking for crowds regularly - they fit a full sheet tray. If you are not cooking for crowds regularly, or don't have the oversize cook ware / roasting pans then the 36in oven can actually be a bit of a waste.

Fast forward to now, building a new house, and while I would love to have another Garland must confess that I am more focused on aesthetics than I was back then. I found a Dacor EG366SCH at a going out of business EXPO for under $600. Loved the look and the price so into the kitchen it went. It's got two 18K BTU burners, which do the trick. Not 22K but liveable, and it's just a much better look. It has nice copper, black, and brass trim options, and a choice of electric pop UP ventilation (ERV36) or backguard (9 inch or 12 inch shelf) with range hood. Been very happy with it - stylish yet highly functional. Optional wok ring and searing grill.

Thanks Derek - it was not exactly any of those things...close but different - at least what I had.

Hey there. Anyone out there know the recipe for House of Nanking's Rice Chowder. I had it yesterday with chicken. It was fabulous. Addictive. Can't find any recipe close online.

PS let's not turn this into a debate on whether HoN is a good chinese restaurant or not. The Rice Chowder is fabulous and worth a visit no matter what you think of the rest :). Personally I'd rate it right up there - certainly is unique !

Hey I hope you went. Agree with the posts that say that HoN is not the most authentic Chinese restaurants around but it is good - very fresh. Dumplings are super. Try the Rice Chowder - I'm still looking for a recipe that comes close. I'm very well traveled and have had all kinds of Asian food all around the world. I thought it was very good. Will go back if only for the rice chowder.
