I went for lunch on Friday and found the brisket to be excellent - best I have had in a long time. I really liked the cheddar jalapeno sausage. One of the three ribs was dry - it was an end piece, but the other two had nice smoke and flavor. I thought the pulled pork sandwich was a bit dry, but that could of been the bun - it is dense and rich from Crispeli's. I prefer a cheap squishy white bun for BBQ sandwiches. The collard greens were the worst thing I have eaten all year - very little collards - a ton of bacon and onion with a very viscous sweet sauce - reminded me of very bad Chinese food. My wife and I took one bite - tossed the rest.

I will make the drive from Plymouth again for that brisket.

We ate there two weeks ago, and were very pleased with our experience. I would recommend Ottava over Republic which we ate at the week prior. My favorite Italian is still Mani in Ann Arbor.

In my order of preference -

Sardine Room - Excellent brunch - hip - some may say fancy - kinda expensive - interesting choices - quality food - loud.

Crawford's Kitchen - Very good breakfast - very small - crowded on Sunday - everything is homemade - old village part of Plymouth.

Omelette & Waffle Café - Lots of options - good breakfast - very small - very casual - order/pay at counter - they bring food to you - busy on Sundays.

Honey Tree Grill - On the border of Plymouth and Northville - step up from standard coney fare - feels like a lot of stuff is homemade - breakfast buffet is a good deal on Sunday - lots of choices.

Greek Islands Coney - downtown Plymouth across from park - standard coney.

Cream/milk have nothing to do with how "smooth and creamy" the ice cream seems. They mostly provide richness and to a lesser degree density and aide in stabilization. The quality of machine they use, how fast they can deep freeze the base, type of sugar and if stabilizers are utilized are all factors in the "smooth and creamy" mouth feel of the ice cream.

Been very pleased with every loaf I have bought at Boule in Plymouth. I like the epi baguette best because you get more crusty crust. I love the cherry walnut toasted with butter and the harvest grain that I think they only sell on Saturdays. I've never found a scone that I've enjoyed very much, so I can't comment on them. The croissants are poor - I ate a Balthazar croissant everyday for 6 months when I interned there during cooking school - it's hard to compare.

I grew up in N. Merrick - this post is so accurate - 100% true. The last few times I have been home - I've always had dinner at La Strada. Great food and great pizza.

I've always been surprised by the love for Petit Prince. I find Cannelle Patisserie to be far superior.

Totally disagree. Been taking my 3 and 4 year old to the hands on museum since we moved here - 3 years ago. Lots of activities for even the smallest kids. You could easily spend a whole afternoon in the toddler/preschool room.

I had heard that the Natural history museum was being moved to a new science building and that a lot of the exhibits have already been moved to storage/new building. Is this true?.

The parking lot has been pretty full the past three days. Looks like lots of activity going on inside.

Scheduled to open in October. Can't believe it has taken over 2 years for that place to open. It's going to be a beautiful store. It's north of 5 - so it's in Northville.

The best meal I have had this year so far was a Roast.

I ate at Blue Tractor in Ann Arbor last weekend and enjoyed it. Smoke flavor could of been a little stronger, but all the meats were tender and juicy. About a 25 minute ride from Novi.

I didn't think Ginopolis was anything special or worth a second visit.

I've gotten brioche burger buns at Whole Foods during the summer - other times of year I have not seen them there. Zingerman's had challah hamburger rolls yesterday. I don't consider challah to be an equal substitute for brioche in regards to hamburger buns - but I'm a burger nerd....

If you are interested in Forest Grill - I would go in the next few weeks. David is leaving soon -The current menu has some of his "greatest hits" on it and they may disappear once a new chef has taken over the kitchen.

What are people ordering at Neehee's? It's good, but I've never understood the over the top raves about the place online.

Consistency is the mark of a good BBQ restaurant - Ron's has failed me in my last two visits. Ron wasn't working those two visits - maybe that has something to do with it... Brisket was moist and tender, but it was gray, no smoke ring, and no flavor - lots of fat chunks. The ribs.... I am not even sure they were ribs... The woman at the counter told me they were fall off the bone tender - there was one bone... a single bone about 3 inches long in a huge mass of meat piled in a takeout container. Some pieces tender, some tough, no smoke flavor and just drenched in sauce. A really bad excuse for ribs. I am going to hold off on returning for awhile.

The best meal I have had in the last year was at Mani Osteria in AA. The second best meal was probably at The Root. I had my birthday meal a few weeks back at The Grange - I was disappointed.

Does anyone know what happened at Neehee's in Canton? I drove by last night and it was boarded up - There was a sign, but I couldn't read it from the road.

I wasn't as thrilled with my second visit yesterday. The pulled pork had litte smoke flavor, no bark, was wet and stringy with no chunks of pork - a very soft mushy texture. The sides (American potato salad and cuke salad) both needed salt and lacked flavor.

I stopped there today for lunch by chance as well. Where you the couple sitting outside by the door? I had the brisket sandwich and coleslaw. The was brisket was great - moist, tender, smokey. I liked the sauce and how little they actually put on the sandwich. The roll was excellant, but I thought a little dense for a sandwich - I prefer a cheap, spongy white hamburger bun for BBQ sandwiches - so as not to distract from the meat. The cole slaw was gross - way too much mayo, and in need of salt. The guy who ordered after me said the ribs are really good - I'll try those next time.

Not on your list, but I had an outstanding meal at Mani Osteria last Saturday. One of the better meals that I have had in Michigan during the last year that I have lived here. Only low points of the meal were crispy pork belly that wasn't crispy (still good - though) and a very weak dessert menu. Logan has been on my list to visit for a long time.

Have to be at a funeralin Beloit, WI. this weekend. Any suggestions to eat in the area - breakfast, lunch and dinner. I'd love to go out for a fish fry Friday night.

The pizza is very good - ask them to cook it well done - an extra 20 seconds or so. They seem to have gone away from the original wine bar concept and are focusing more on the pizzas. They changed the wine program last fall - they no longer offer homemade wine or tasting flights. It's a basic wine list - leaning heavily Italian - the staff isn't very knowledgable about the wines and wine service is non existant.

Did this place open for a short period and close? The open soon signs have been up for months, and recently they changed the sign to - open real soon.
