I will be in Yakima next week camping with friends and touring wineries. I would appreciate suggestions for dinner. It has been a while since I have visited Yakima, and am not up on the eateries. We will be looking for casual/fine dining. We need a good Mexican restaurant for Cinco de Mayo. Thanks.

I recently purchased Grace Young's Stir Frying to the Sky's Edge. After checking it out of the library on three different occasions, I decided I should have my own copy. I love it not only for the recipes, but for the history of the many regions of Chinese cookery.

I steam my artichokes in my Instant Pot for about 9 minutes. Quick Release. I use about a cup of water and rest the artichokes on a steamer rack.

I think I must be going crazy. Very recently, in the last couple of days, I read a review about a cookbook that was recently published. I made a mental note to find it on Amazon and order it. Now for the life of me I cannot figure out where I saw the review, the name of the book, or the author. It was a pasta cookbook, more about the sauces than the pasta. It had sections of what sauce to cook for each type of pasta. The sauce recipes looked quite easy to prepare at home. I think the author was female. To be clear, the book was not about making pasta, but about making the sauces that go with particular pastas. The author had spent some time in Italy, and wrote about some of the cultural dining differences. Does all this sound familiar to anyone?

I will be in Monterey for one Sunday night in November. I would appreciate dinner recommendations for good seafood. Thanks.

I am going to be in Bellingham later this week. Any recommendations for shopping for Asian food items? I do not need produce/meat/seafood, just a good selection of canned/bottled items.

I will be in Everett next week on business. I would like to find an Asian food market to pick up supplies. I will be staying at the Holiday Inn. Any recommendations nearby? I will have a car. Thanks.

The best Thai food in Seattle is in Issaquah at The Noodle Boat.

For my family, King Ludwig and their schweinhoxe is the best German food in Leavenworth. We live in Wenatchee, and eat in Leavenworth often. However, our favorite Leavenworth restaurant is South.

I have never stayed at Cave B because I live in the area. I have eaten at Tendrils a couple of times and have always been pleased. There is not anything else in area. A 30 minute drive to Wenatchee will find you a variety of eateries, even more if you drive another 30 minutes to Leavenworth. I think most of the folks who stay at Cave B eat all meals at Tendrils.

She uses a lot of Le Creuset for the show, but she admits many times that her favorite cookware is Lodge Cast Iron.

Since I seem to forget to add it my smoothies, I just threw some into the sloppy joe mixture that is simmering on the stove.

We ended up eating one night at Aloha Charlie's (good fish and chips), one night at The Depot (they make the best steak), and one night at Jimella's. We spent all Sunday eating oysters at the Jazz and Oyster Festival, but we knew if we did not eat at Jimella's on Sunday night we would miss our chance, since we were leaving on Sunday. So stuffed with oysters, we stuffed some more at Jimella's. As always, food and service were spectacular. Also fit in a breakfast at 42nd St Cafe (one of our favorites for any meal), and a first time visit to Laurie's Homestead for breakfast.

I noticed yesterday that Macy's has some good prices (and good colors) on Martha Stewart cast iron dutch ovens. Has anyone had experience with them? I have Le Crueset and Staub, but could stand to use a cheaper one.

We will be staying on the Long Beach Peninsula for a few days. We try to get there every other year. Have any good new eateries opened? Some of our favorites are Jimella's (which won't be open while we are there), 42nd St Cafe, and The Depot. The restaurants in Ilwaco seem to come and go, so I am not sure what is open there now. Any suggestions?

I can't think of any place on the peninsula that is NOT kid friendly. Have a great time.

I had my first trip to Toro Bravo over the holidays. Boy, was it good! Yes, there was a 45 minute wait....BUT we walked down a few doors to an oyster place and had a beer and oysters on the half shell. Toro Bravo called us when our table was ready.

You have received great recommendations for food, so I won't comment further. However, a few hours in Churchmouse Yarns is to die for!

I have a small programmable rice cooker that I got several years ago. It is perfect for different varieties of rice, but we especially like it for cooking oatmeal!

Don't miss Jimella's! Besides a great restaurant, she has a nice deli counter with fish, meat, and cheese. She also has a good wine selection. I second the recommendations to eat at 42nd St and The Depot.

We used to buy coffee pots at the rate of once/year. That was as long as they would last. Our Technivorm has lasted 9 years with daily use, sometimes more than once/day. We are way ahead of the game, plus they were cheaper 9 years ago. I realize it is stretch of money to put out at one time, which is why I have not "upgraded" to the model with the stainless pot.

Our "Saturday" pot, for when we have more time, is often the Chemex.

I second the recommendaton for Technivorm. I would love to have one of the stainless steel pot styles, but my 9 year old CD Moccamaster just won't quit. Sweet Maria's and Boyd's Coffee are good sources for purchase.

I l ove my programmable Sanyo, not just for rice, but for oatmeal too. If I had to buy another one, I would get one that also had a steamer.

I am going to try that chicken dish tonight!

Has anyone played around with different brands of Srirachi? I have always used the rooster sauce (I don't think my kids even know it has another name), but I recently purchased Shark Brand Sriracha chili sauce. Haven't tried it yet.
