I'm moving to Phoenix from Manhattan next week, and this review was disheartening to say the least (my family lives in Phoenix; I've lived there briefly to oversee a large investment my firm made there, and spent maybe once a week for months there! Great place then for visiting clients).
I need to find a more recent review; hoping things haven't changed. As for the prices, in my view in 2008 they were simply optimizing their margins - let's remember that this fantastic historical institution in Phoenix is not a charitable organization. Prime beef prices have been steadily increasing for over 15 years now. Those costs have to be passed through somehow, they are a for-profit business.
Of course coming back West from bloody NYC make the prices I see in your post look like a fire sale!
