Thanks everyone. I'll be in the area of a couple of those places over the weekend and i'll report back. If no luck, i need a good excuse to travel further afoot next week anyway.

 

I'm pretty sure this is the season, but i haven't found them anywhere yet. I'm in SF, but would drive other places for them too. Anyone know where? thanks!

Thanks for all of your (no doubt expert!) comments. I can't feel ok about serving it to guests, so i went out and bought another. I'll roast them both, serve the new one to the guests, and cook the other more well-done to slice it up (maybe freeze some) to eat myself to less exacting standards.

Guess i'll be eating lamb for a few weeks. Lamb soup, lamb stew, lamb ice cream...

 

Long time reader, first time poster. I know many similar questions have been ask, but it's tough to piece together the answers with my specific situation:

Nice leg of lamb, very well wrapped and air-tight sealed, frozen for a long time. Left and forgotten on the counter for about 12 hours, at about 68 degrees in the room. Maybe slightly cool to the touch when i found it, but not much. Guests coming for dinner.

Is this a lost cause? I sure hate throwing things out, and i tend towards eating old things, but this may be too risky. Help?
