You are right. It is the best retail brand I have found, also.

Most sellers are using either Chinese or a mix of Chinese and other pine nuts, even if they are listed as Organic and packaged and distributed here.
If you got pine nut mouth, your nuts were from China. Or, from other countries who packaging nuts sourced from China.
The fact they were advertised as organic means nothing.

Wrong. Pine nut mouth or syndrome has NOTHING to do with freshness. It is a particular species of pine tree that is in China. It is Chinese pine nuts that caused us to lose our taste for about 3 weeks and to cause my spouse kidney problems.

Of course it is Chinese pine nuts -- no surprise there, eh?

We discovered the same thing - could not control temperatures properly in newer slow cookers.
We first considered the slow cooker alternative from 360. All made in USA and nice components.

However, we are wanting something to make bone broth and this requires larger pots than will fit on this cooker base. This item works fine for small portions. But we need something to make stock in, as well as some larger roasts for braising. This means we will need a larger base than that one, because the 360 base will ONLY work with the two pot sizes they sell with it ( 2.3 qt and 4 qt).

Therefore, we decided to order the Vollrath Mirage Pro 59500P induction counter top base with larger, heavy duty cookware (Demeyere stock pots and 360's larger stock pots). This base has a heating element size 10.25 but some people are using pans up to 12" wide.

We had wanted the Cooktek induction countertop as the base since it is better, but the cost was outside our budget. The Vollrath is not quite as expensive, but is almost as good.

We could not use a cheap induction cooker since they have auto-shutoff after a few hours (can't override it) and they have the same problem most regular slow cookers have -- lowest temperatures are too high (usually like 150F for induction and over 200 for typical slow cookers). But these higher end commercial induction cookers go down to like 80 or 85F and can be finely controlled and have no auto-shutoffs.

So for smaller portions the 360 slow cooker is an option, but we found an alternative for larger dishes.

Artisan Bistro Asian wild salmon is horrible. Just nasty. Haven't found much from that brand worth eating.

Amy's vegetable lasagna is outstanding (not the tofu vegetable, the regular) and some of their Indian food is also really good. The Amy's margarita pizza is also very good, but avoid the pizzas with weird crusts (rice flour, etc.). They are hard to spot - you have to read the box carefully to see. Their canned cream of tomato soup is wonderful (just never, ever boil it - heat gently).

Indian food that is healthy and really good is Tandoor Chef.

But the very best frozen Indian food we've found anywhere is Sudki's - esp. chicken curry and chicken masala. They actually make a naan that is included that is amazing - especially considering it is frozen. We just pop it into the toaster.

Glad to see we are not the only ones with this problem. We had tried Seventh Gen liquid unscented, but none of their liquid dishwasher detergents worked well. Dishes not as clean and a dark film started building up on all of our glassware.
Cascade does indeed clean better, but we are going to try lowering the amount to see if that helps with the smell that clings to our glassware (yeck!)
