I have a box of Bella brand thinly shaved ribeye steaks in my freezer. Like steak umms but better quality. I don't have luck of being able to get good sandwich rolls like the ones used for cheesesteaks in my smaller city.
So what are some meals that I can make using the steak that doesn't use sandwich rolls?
I've already made cheesesteaks but with rye bread like a patty melt but steaks instead of the burger and cheesesteak casserole with macaroni.

I was watching a food network cooking competition and one of the contestants had to make lasagna in 30 minutes. One of the judges said ”I have never made a lasagna and served it same day. I always serve it the next day so that it is able to set”

My question is, does that include baking it or does it just mean that I should do everything up to putting it in the oven to cook? If it does include baking and then cooling and then warming it back up then how would I go about it once I take it out of the oven and put it on the counter to cool after the initial cook?

I'm making a butternut squash lasagna for family the week of Thanksgiving and even though I have made it many times before I was wondering if it would be better if I did some sort of rest.

I'm originally from the bay area of California and had a craving for home. So I got some casper’s hot dogs because I love the snap of the casing.

I was just wondering, what does everyone think is the best way to cook, or I guess reheat really, hot dogs with the casing like these? Just for fun, what do you like with your hot dog?

My husband and I are going to be in Tempe, AZ for Wicked and want to go out for sushi before or after the show. I love hand rolls but can't do big chunks of the raw stuff. I know I know, bad foodie! What kind of sushi lover can't handle real sushi! Lol. Anyway, what is a good place for someone who loves hand rolls and also has a fair selection of sushi that isn't raw? We are coming from Flagstaff in case that helps. Thank you

For the week before and the week of Labor Day, my husband and I will be visiting two different parts of Southern California. The first part of our trip we will be in Ventura County area. Because I am considered the foodie of the family my M.I.L asked me to pick out a restaurant that has good takeout because not everyone can go to the restaurant due to mobility issues so we will be getting either take out for all 10 people or the rest of us will eat there and just get takeout for the one person. I know that almost every restaurant takes to-go orders but in the 10 minutes or so it takes to get home some restaurants food goes from ”delicious” to ”I can't believe I spent all that money and after a bite or two I'm throwing my food away”.

The only place that I thought of (especially since I don't know the area) is Brent's Deli because sandwiches are practically the definition of portable food that quality does not go down when mobile.

The second part of the trip is in Redlands for 3-4 days and my M.I.L wants to do take-out/delivery and/or eating out at the restaurant for all the nights we are there. Even though she lives in Redlands my in-laws don't eat out much normally and my M.I.L is a 5-year-old in a grown woman's body when it comes to food because she won't try new foods unless I am the one telling her to try something. So because of that, she asked me to pick the restaurants. If anyone can recommend any good restaurants in the nearby vicinity or even if there are restaurants that shouldn't be in business and must be avoided that would be helpful as well.

I apologize for the long post and just in case my post is confusing or just don't want to read it all my questions are-
What restaurants in the Ventura County area do well when it comes to take out?
What restaurants in Redlands and the nearby vicinity are great and which ones if any should be avoided?

I have a problem with cooking. When it comes to cooking for myself and my husband I do great. However, for the last 3 + years I was on bedrest most of the time so I didn't cook much. When I did, it was just for myself because my husband was at work. For some reason everything I made for myself (that wasn't just par-bake bread with goat cheese or wasn't a sandwich with best quality deli meats) was so bad it went to the trash.

The last thing that I made myself was deviled egg salad sandwich. I spent days doing research, looking at recipes for the proper ratio and had my husband buy peeled hard boiled eggs from the salad bar because I can never make them right. I screwed up somehow and it was so bad that I took one bite of the sandwich and had to throw it away. I was crushed :(

After the deviled egg situation I told my husband that I was done making food for myself and I have stocked up on good quality frozen snack and lunch items from whole foods. After watching the premiere of worst cooks in America my husband thinks that this failure at feeding myself is just all in my head and I just need to get over it.

So my question is, does anyone have some super easy recipes for meals/snacks for just one that they know it's so easy that even someone like me won't mess it up? I think if I start successfully cooking for myself (even if it is only following a recipe) then maybe I won't have panic attacks and try to convince myself I'm not hungry when it comes time to feed myself and we don't have a freezer full of meals

So tomorrow morning I am planning on making a breakfast burrito for the first time when a question popped in my head. I am planning on making a breakfast burrito with at least four mix ins not including the eggs and I was wondering what the best way to make it so that each bite is as similar as possible? Would it be better to just Scramble the eggs and add the mix ins while the eggs cook since that seems to be traditional ( I have only had at the most 5 breakfast burritos in my life)? Or would it be better to make an omelet that way, depending on how meticulous you are, you can lay out each individual ingredient right where you want it? So scrambled or omelet before it goes in the tortilla? Also any tips and discussion about techniques or ingredients or whatever would be most helpful to this breakfast burrito newbie and dummy :)

The hummus sounds good. I live in a small town though so if safeway or a smaller whole foods doesn't have it then I am out of luck. But they do sell dolmas at whole foods so I can have my husband get those. Thanks for the suggestions :).

So I am on bed rest due to an extremely complicated hip problem until I have surgery in March and then at least 6 weeks but up to 6 months of bed rest after that. So I need snack/lunch ideas that my husband can give me before he leaves for work. Nothing that needs to be kept cold (but I do keep my house at 58 degrees) or microwaved since I don't want to ask him to put a cooler together and have to stay laying down. It also has to be stuff that doesn't need to be eaten right away since I tend to be sleeping when he leaves. Thank you for any help you can give me.

I will be asking for a popcorn popper for Christmas the kind that uses the oil. Until then I use the microwave variety. The brown bag method seems to not pop big kernels. The gas stove in our apartment is so old that it takes about a half hour for my husband to get the oil and the pot hot enough to pop popcorn so I feel guilty asking him to make it more often than once in a great while. Something about the butter in movie theater popcorn will make me sick if I don't have food in my stomach but otherwise other versions are fine even microwave popcorn but it is what I grew up on. Hopefully the oil popper makes popcorn as good as the stove top kind.

L4Seats- Thanks for the suggestion. We went back to Arizona on the 8th and ended up not going anywhere because we had no idea which place to pick. But I'll keep that in mind for the next time we go to southern California.

I'm in simi valley ca from Arizona visiting family and have a craving for good lumpia and pancit. A few filipino restaurants have popped up on yelp in canoga park and I need to know which one is best or even another city close by. I'm bringing it to a bbq so I'll need to be able to get enough to go for 6 people. Thank you in advance.

I'm going to Scottsdale tomorrow (6/28) from flagstaff for a food obsessed birthday extravaganza. I'm going to a mongolian bbq for lunch, the giant whole foods in Scottsdale and then I want to get a couple of pounds of really good preferably fatty corned beef. I was thinking chompie's because they had good reviews on yelp but thought I'd ask fellow chowhounders what you guys think is the best. I already am planning to do a little bit of driving just around Scottsdale to go everywhere. However if there is better corned beef that's not in Scottsdale I'm totally open to suggestions.

So I'm going down the mountain from flagstaff to Phoenix to celebrate my birthday with a food based day trip on Tuesday the 28th. I have a foodsaver and split up a 1.5 lb package of really good, thick bacon from whole foods into separate foodsaver bags with just enough bacon for the two of us in each bag. It has been about two months and the bacon is as good as new. If a foodsaver is not an option then you can always cook up the bacon and reheat it as needed. I read online that once it is cooked it lasts longer.

I know this is a very old thread but, I'm getting a smoker soon and would love your recipe for triple smoked bacon.

I have a nostalgic love for canned potatoes because I lived with my grandparents until I was 6 when they moved and then used to go visit every summer and Christmas until I become an adult. My grandmother used to make (and still makes) canned potatoes for my grandfather with breakfast multiple times a week. I know this is a very old post but, I would love your recipe. It sounds amazing.

Over medium is when the yolk is mostly solid and not runny but still a little wet. Over hard is when the whites are crispy and the yolk is like it is when it's hard boiled. I'm starting to like between over easy and over medium but I still order them over hard when we eat out, more out of habit then anything.

I know you said white bread but it looks like wheat in the photo. What kind/brand is it? It looks yummy. Butter instead of margarine or mayo if you really want to make it yummy and don't care about calories.

I used to hate yolk too. When I go out to eat breakfast i always get them fried overhard since I don't trust egg whites from a carton. But when I eat at home I either do egg whites or I have been trying to like over medium since I don't like the texture of the chalky egg yolks at home. I wonder why restaurants do eggs so much better than we can.

I know this is old but I pay at least $6 for pastured eggs from Safeway. It's my only option for humanly treated chickens. This week I'm going to try whole foods because even though it's normally pricey I'm thinking it can't be worse.

Sorry If I posted on the wrong thread. I found it on my iPhone and didn't see it was for Seattle only.

For the stores that didn't use antibiotics or hormones and make them at least 3 times a day? That would be our local sprouts and surprisingly Walmart.

I know this an old thread but, I called our local whole foods this morning and the girl in charge said they make the rotisserie at 9am and they sit under the lamps all day. I asked a few other stores and they don't use antibiotics or hormones and they make them at least 3 different times throughout the day. Made me turned off of whole foods rotisserie for a while.

Thank you for your reply. It is very helpful. Up in flagstaff we don't have a lot of options for good quality food. I found two good quality stores and didn't think about all the food options that a bigger city has.Thank you for opening my eyes exit2lef.

My husband and I are looking to move to the phoenix area from flagstaff next year. Ive been doing some research and discovered aj's fine foods. I was just wondering how it compares to whole foods. In terms of selection, prices, and customer service how do they compare?
