Good to know about batard being loud - I’ve been there 2 times and it was not loud at all and I’m very sensitive about noise. But I haven’t been in a while.

Sure- they make it very easy to accept their offer of “I’ll choose for you” and it was perfectly fine. I just was a bit put off by the fact that everyone around us were all eating the same things and I found it a little factory-line like ...if that makes sense.

Of course I could have asked for a particular dish that wasn’t offered so it’s not as confining as I make it seem. But also I felt it was a way of increasing the bill.

On the other hand they included 2 desserts which were the most fantastic and delicious creations!
The one that looks like a wheel of cheese is really a sweet cake!

Just returned from Barcelona
We loved Paridiso! And after a full lunch we ate pastrami there for dinner. If you drink martinis you have to order one.
Had a great meal at Dos Pebrotes. We sat at the bar-like seats not at a table and we had fun watching it all and talking to the chefs.
Enigma was a treat and especially liked when we had to guess what we were tasting.
Tickets was excellent though I would recommend NOT having them choose your dishes for you. If I had it to do again I would do a la carte. One of the best desserts I’ve ever had.
Lunch at El Xampanyet!

If you need an adventure make a reservation at Enoteca Maria on Staten Island - a short walk from where the ferry drops you off. You get to ride past the Statue of Liberty and then get an Italian grandma to cook for you.

In soho: Pizza at Grimaldi then dessert at Rice To Riches

Returning to Phoenix after many years for a long weekend. Looking for dining suggestions, all prices, love Mexican, no Italian please. Quirky is good. Looking for something fun and local. thanks!

I've always had such great suggestions from this board. What restaurants would be great for dinner that are handy to Arena Stage?

Also looking for ideas on another evening - I have reservations at Bar Pilar. Thoughts? What is exciting and fun?

thanks!

The go to place that us theater folk love is Bar Centrale. Google it for a phone number.
It is located above Orso's but there is no sign.
Very small special place s few blocks from The Palace Theater.
Or try The Lambs Club

What is the best way to experience a chiccetti crawl in Venice?
Is it fun to hire someone to tour you around town for this or is it easy to manage alone?

Also - has anyone been to Al Tovo? Da Fiori? Le Maschere?

thanks for the advice.

I've had very good luck auctioning off pre-measured sets to bake later - I use mason jars and pre measure flour, sugar etc, add a vanilla bean (or a bottle of vanilla extract) chocolate or butterscotch chips etc. That way it can be used at the purchaser's convenience. Don't forget to include instructions. I've also done this with sugar cookie recipes and included small amounts of fancy sprinkles and colored sugar for decorating.

Looking for feedback on restaurant choices:
Dinner @ Galatoires OR NOLAs? Would either be good for brunch/lunch?
I have reservations @ Brigstens and Cochon
On my list: Luizza's by the Track; Felix OR Acme

Any favorites on the way to Avery Island?

thanks for any suggestions.
