Oooh...FireLake looks GREAT. My husband would be all about that Elk and whatnot on the menu and Ike's looks perfect for Sunday brunch.

I'm sorry!!! It is the downtown minneapolis one, i believe connected by the skywalk to nicollet mall? Near the Target center I think. And yes, we will be driving in from Fargo so we'll have a car although if the weather is decent we'd prefer to walk, especially if we have a few cocktails :)

I know this has been covered a zillion times before but I'm asking anyway for help

Hubby and I are coming to the cities the weekend of March 9th, so we have a late night dinner, a full day of meals on Saturday and brunch on Sunday. We are staying at the Crowne Plaza downtown which I think is a pretty decent location.

The trick here is that my husband is NOT a foodie at ALL. He likes super basic food, no fancy sauces, veggies anything like that. I'm a bit more advenurous, but we need something will will suit us both.

I don't want to be paying 30-50 for a plate of food that he won't eat I guess, so any suggestions for good food that a non-foodie will eat?

I think my jaw hit the floor when I saw that. I can't believe they thought they would get away with it. I agree the veggie move in Memphis was lame. I'm having a hard time really enjoying this show this year. It's hard to prove you're the best food truck at making YOUR food when you're not allowed to make YOUR food. It's just too gimmicky this year, and I don't really like it. The challenges are interesting, but they shouldn't be forced to change their whole way of doing business.

The sister of a guy I used to date had made Knoephle soup from scratch and she proceeded to tell me she couldn't believe the recipe had called for cool whip. Being of German descent I asked to see the recipe..lo and behold the recipe called for whipping cream which she assumed meant cool whip...

You kept the attention of my 2 year old. Much kudos to you. I love listening to you talk, you're like the Dennis Miller of the food network.

At Target their Archer Farms brand of instant oatmeal (instant...yuk I know) has some flavors like blueberry almond flaxseed, and mixed berry that have ten grams of fiber. I add a scoop of protien powder to it and have a good balanced start to the day. It works nice for me at work!

Maybe that was it. I'll try the just regular breast then next time and see if that works better for me. Thank you!!!

I used to buy ground turkey all the time...but it made me really bloated and miserable when I ate it. Even using it in hotdishes and whatnot. Not sure if that happens to everyone or just me?

My dad and I always talk about opening up a hotdish/casserole restaurant. Featuring three or four casseroles on a daily basis like a "funeral" hotdish, a tater tot hotdish, a chicken and noodles casserole etc.
Fresh baked breads, a couple of soups and homey desserts like apple pie with a slice of cheese on top. Thick milkshakes and malts.

Ambience would be very low key, lots of wood and knick knacks on the walls. Music would be oldies probably.

The overall vibe would be very down home and friendly and patrons would be encouraged to submit recipes of their own casseroles they would like to see on the menu. If theirs is chosen they would get a gift card or something.

Can you tell I'm a midwest girl?

Do you have a price range or specific type of food in mind? Peacock Alley downtown has a great menu and a fun martini list. East 40 is a little more upscale with good steak and desserts. Pirogue Grille is more seasonal foods.

Other than that, it's your pretty basic chains. Applebees, Ground Round, Red Lobster etc. Of course, to me, I can never go wrong with some fries and gravy from Big Boy.

Tobies in Hickley isn't a great restaurant, but they have some amazing baked goods for a quick snack along the way. They also have a little gift shop there with cute jewelry and whatnot.
