I do beer can chickens on the gas grill and they always come out fantastic. So easy and delicious. Great for making tacos, bbq sandwiches and even chicken salad. You can add a foil packet with wood chips for a little smokiness as well.

If I had to pick one, it is my vintage Wagnerware Magnalite dutch oven. My go to for braising and soups in the fall and winter, and for steaming/cooking shellfish. My mom got a small set as a wedding present in the 60s. My brother took the frying pan which had only a nub of the plastic handle left. Second place is our 14" DeBuyer non-stick, it basically sits on our stove 24/7.

Family of four, with kids aged 11 and 14. Boy and a girl.
Including household products, between $200 and $300 per week on average.
We do shop at a Japanese grocery and a very expensive, high quality fish market, so probably a bit higher than average.

General Tso's Chicken around 1981 at the Flower Drum Song in Bloomfield, CT. Wow that aint no pu pu platter! This place had a great chef (poached from NYC I believe) and marked my transition from spare ribs and shrimp and lobster sauce to slightly more authentic dishes (not saying this dish is authentic). I still remember seeing the dried chiles and that deep, dark, spicy, sweet sauce for the first time. It was presented in a very grand manner.

Shortly thereafter, my mom got interested in bringing Chinese food back from Chinatown in NYC. I was probably the only teenager around that really liked duck tongue. The beginning of my passion for tasty, authentic and interesting food. Thanks Mom!

+1 one on this choice. Somewhere along the way we also picked up a 14" DeBuyer non-stick with the standard metal handle. The only downside is that they take up a lot of space and they are a bit heavy. We basically keep them on the stove top 24/7.

Agree GIbby's wont blow you away and I am sure there are better steak places. Our group has been going there for many years it is sort of a tradition. We love the old port atmosphere and the food is fine for us as we usually go there after 3 days of being at the Grand Prix. The steak tastes damn good after that!

Yes, I have done the Franklin's wait twice. It lived up to the hype but its a really long wait. Recently we have pre-ordered and skipped the line. So good. Yeah the off site salt lick locations are so so. Austin and the surrounding areas have so many BBQ joints it can be overwhelming. La Barbecue and Micklethwait Craft Meats are also very good, the latter for frito pie which I have to get every time I go to Austin!

I was just saying that most of the cooking methods being used by Westchester BBQ joints are not suitable for good brisket and ribs. I've had brisket that tasted like propane and 99% of the time the ribs are dry or falling apart. I guess I am saying that those two cuts are better when cooked over wood or charcoal (captain obvious)! I make an annual trip to Austin and the hill country, I can wait for good brisket.

Not sure if that works and you need to buy 4 packs. Agree there is no substitute. Also, in my experience these do not freeze well. They take on a funny taste after freezing.

First make sure the tip isn't already included. Then you can check the bill to see if they calculated the proposed tip amount at 10, 15 and 20 percent. I've seen this more and more.

Unfortunately if have ever had really good cue, nothing even comes close. Its not hard to find a decent pulled pork, wings or BBQ chicken at most of the places mentioned. You can have a decent meal at most of the places mentioned above. Dinosaur has great wings and the sauces are good. Beef ribs are very forgiving and can be fantastic, but as you noted, they can cost $35 for a single bone! But when it comes to spare ribs and brisket there is only disappointment to be found in most cases. Southern pride gas smokers and having food sit around before service does not make for good ribs and brisket IMHO.
Big W can be great, but its inconsistent. One day terrific, the next time, not so much.

Try Kewpie Japanese mayo while you are at it. Squeeze bottle and delicious.
Not ok to dip. Gross.

Reminds me of the Fry Daddy my mom used in the 70s LOL.

Differences would be a shorter, lighter meal. It really depends where you go. I have had really great omakase lunches where the chef paid us proper attention and others that were more of a set lunch as mentioned above. IMHO lunch is no substitute for a proper omakase at dinner if you are looking for that Tokyo experience.

On another note, lunch sets at teppanyaki/steak restaurants are a great way to try Japanese Wagyu at slightly lower prices (but still pricey if you want the real deal).

Cant speak to the other requests, but I always go to the Dominion Square Tavern when I am up in Montreal for the Grand Prix. Food and atmosphere are terrific. We also hit Gibby's, more for the setting than the food, which is pretty good but wont blow you away. Two Montreal classics. Sorry I cant be more helpful on the ethnic choices.

This. Cheap and works great as an everyday pan. The pro models are preferable as the handles are riveted rather than attached with a screw. Available at Target as well.

Anyone who likes beef should have real wagyu in Japan.
Not an easy trip, and super expensive, but what a treat!

Same. Had it in Japan and it was not bad. I would not necessarily seek it out, but it was fine.

Wedge? Are you in Westchester? Jacob Burns?
I could see how the smells and sounds from someone eating that type of food would be bothersome in a theater. Especially if I was hungry.

Maybe a silly question, but what kind of sandwich and sides emit aromas that even come close to those of Chinese take out? I cant possibly think of a sandwich and sides that would bother me. Sardines, limburger and french fries maybe. Maybe a hot hero.

I have two kids boy 10 girl 7.
The boy is a dream eater. The girl not so much.
I am lucky my wife is Japanese and serves terrific nutritious balanced food to our children. Same food for everyone.
The only problem is the girl does not like to eat green vegetables.
She does not mind the taste as we have seen her eat a salad happily when very very hungry. It can be a real battle with her.
My wife serves small salad portions with every meal so it is not like we are asking her to eat a Cheesecake Factory salad.
The rule in our house is that the salad must be eaten first in no more than 15 minutes or no Kara Age for you!

Bummer to hear about the lack of Asian products.
That was the main reason I went there.
I only bought the $15 asparagus because I was able to get the necessary ingredients to make summer rolls!

Not a good place for large groups. It is not really set up that way.
Go back by yourself order pastrami on rye, juicy, with mustard at the counter and tip the slicer a few dollars. That is the Katz's experience IMHO.

There is no one solution that works universally.

Each child is different and what may apply generally may not apply to your child.

The important thing IMHO is to keep track of what is being ingested-food, medicine, supplements-and to keep a record of behavior, emotional and sleeping patterns. Only then will you begin to understand the positive and negative impact.

IMHO doctors do not spend enough time with kids to know the whole picture. They can end up prescribing treatment that is generally successful but be completely ineffective for your child. It is up to the parent to be armed with good information about the child. Even then the doctor might not listen. Just my 2 cents.
