I was able to locate them at Highland Farms (Kennedy/Ellesmere in Scarborough) - Mexican and a little pricier than the green zukes, but worked perfectly in my dinner party marinated zuke salad this past weekend!

Just reporting that I recently discovered Condorelli Almond Milk at Lady York Foods (2939 Dufferin St., North York, ON) @ $4.99/litre. They also carry another Italian brand, ? Dolcon, but Condorelli is the best!!
(And an intriguing cocktail tip from the Italian radio host who was broadcasting there that day - almond milk with mint liqueur; although the LCBO seems to have discontinued selling this type of liqueur.)

If you can track down some Condorelli-brand Latte di Mandorla (Italian for "almond milk"), you'll be in almond milk heaven! Another 'hound says it is available at the Cheese Boutique on Ripley in Toronto (South of Bloor West Village I think).

You're right, jules, it's not really a milk substitute like local almond, rice, soy etc. milk would be.

The ingredients:
- water
- sugar
- selected almonds (11%)
- emulsifier: sucrose esters of fatty acids
- anti-oxidant: L-ascorbic acid
- flavourings

Just a nice beverage to enjoy as a special treat!

It's smoother, creamier and overall has a more delicious and authentic almond flavour than the ones here, wouldn't you say, Dewster? Do try it!

I had planned to make a recipe (choc. truffles) using some older, "dateless" choc. from my cupboard, namely a large, unopened bar (it's not that nice as "eating" choc. and so has remained quietly in cupboard for some time) and was just wondering if it would still be ok to use...

Hello, just wanted to mention that when I was in there a couple of years ago, there were some ladies in the dessert section who had driven all the way from London, Ontario to get some Arz baklava, saying it was the best they'd ever had! I think it's pretty good too.

If you don't mind driving into Durham Region, try MacMillan Orchards Ltd. in Ajax, at 733 Kingston Road East (on the south side, just west of Lakeridge Road). Delicious, square-shaped butter tarts by the half-dozen...plain, with raisins or with pecans. Mmm - worth the drive!
