Pages was off the charts awesome. Accommodating staff and chef, expertly prepared dishes from best ingredients, and a laid back vibe despite the "pretty food" reputation. Would go back tomorrow.

Thanks to both of you.

So we walked up to Girafe last evening. We were seated immediately just as the room was almost full. Yes, lots of pretty things but by no means inexperienced. Off on the wrong foot as my wife’s request for a very dry martini was met with the exact opposite. The replacement was not much better and much smaller. The wine recommendation was for a second label white burgundy, so we made our own choice—-much better. Pouligny-Montrachet. We were also curious as to why so early in the evening there were so many menu items no longer available (grilled squid despite it being delivered all around us) and being told that the only John Dory left in the house was for two. We ordered it, delicious, extremely expensive, but not what I would label killer. My first course was the tartare of the day, sea bream, very very good. Dessert was back at the hotel, heavenly. Tonight off to Pages. Thank you both!

Well thank you Parnassien! My age and style? Can't do much about my age and our style is adaptable---loud or quiet are fine if the food is good. We've mostly patronized smaller venues with a home cooked feel (all fine suggestions from Mr. Talbott), nothing overly upscale but that won't stop us. Don't want to get overly dressed (sportcoat and fancy jeans or slacks). I'll get to work on your list!

My wife and I are headed back to Paris (finally!) and have had excellent suggestions from these posts. Usually stay in 2nd or 6th but this time in the 8th. Not familiar with restaurants in this area and have reviewed blogs (Liebovitz, Talbott, etc.) and have some ideas. Dinners three nights (Tue/Wed/and Thursday very casual). Like modern and traditional French, bistro and upscale. Many thanks in advance.

On the contrary, your suggestions have been most successful for us. We are set for cezembre and working on another. Well done!

"True Bistro" must be a term I have to use in the states, where bistro can mean anything. Franck Enee on my first trip was terrific, second trip not as much. The decor and atmosphere is what I envisioned and seek. I sent an email to Cezembre which is close and looks great. Au Pres makes the list as well. As for final night casual, I appreciate the ideas, and will steer away from the chains. La Cremerie may just do the trick. Thanks so much for the input! Cheers.

So Mr. Talbott says I should also chime in with you! Here's what I wrote him:

Mr. Talbott, you have been so helpful in the past for my wife and I that I will reach out to you first prior to posting. We are returning to Paris after Thanksgiving but staying in a new area for us at the Hotel Esprit St. Germain. We love to walk to dinner so I hope the choices are as wonderful as your suggestions in the past (Franck Enee the first time we went; Pirouette and others from the second trip). True bistro is my favorite then a very casual sandwich spot for our last night. Always appreciated!

And here was his reply!

Parnassien is much better at this GPS stuff than I but I think you’ve got several good choices nearby: Cezembre, Aux Pres and Camdebords Comptoir du Relais.

Your input is also much appreciated!

Friend's kid headed to Duquesne in the fall and would like ideas of places to buy him gift cards for. He is the son of Philly Foodies. Close to campus and good food most important. Thanks in advance!

Greetings. My wife and I are making our first foray to Dublin, IE for just a couple of nights. We are staying at the Fitzwilliam Hotel and are looking for recommendations for a nice evening out and a casual one as well. Our hope is to be in walking distance or a very short cab or Uber ride. The casual night, a Sunday, can even be a pub. We are foodies but shy away from Indian or Asian when we travel. Farm to table is always best for us! Thanks in advance!

About 16 of us are headed to Tampa for football this fall. I can split us up and try for two tables on a Saturday night at Bern's, but if that can't be done, we'd like some other ideas for good, solid food. Staying downtown near arena and will travel---just not too far. Thanks in advance.

Greetings all. Headed back to Napa Valley for a Poetry Inn visit. Am a frequent visitor to wine country and earlier posts have been very helpful. Looking for under the radar New American. Always loved Martini House and have tried the Goose (good), not a fan of Redd (service) and bistros don't get much better than Jeanty. Thanks in advance.

Nappy New Year all! Will be staying at Sanctuary on Camelback in Feb and am looking for two dinner nights. Always loved Lon's and have been to all of the steak places in town (Mastro's group, etc.) but need some help for fresh ideas. Don't want to drive too far. I find the Zagat ratings for PHX to be inflated compared to other cities. Love farm to table, Southwest fare, New American. Thanks in advance.

Well all spots we chose were fantastic (including the Hotel 41). We did Cafe Murano after theater and had the perfect first night's late meal. Night two was Olivomare and we were blown away by the unique Sardinian approach to seafood----we don't have anything in Chicago to compare it to. My wife had a pasta dish wish a grey mullet roe in the "sauce"---killer. I played it safe and had whole sea bass, and it did not disappoint. Night three was at Rabbit in Chelsea, which completely redefines "farm to table", as the proteins are sourced from their own farm! Genius. Thanks to all who responded.

It'll take us time to decompress after the Bears lose to the Rams, so more towards traditional supper time.

Good suggestions. Is the Southern part of Pappy's? Last time I was at O'Connell's was 1976, and they had a terrific waitress named Nora. The place was awesome even back then.

Greetings all. I would most appreciate ideas for dinner near the Hotel 41, hopefully being able to enjoy some newer and hot-list London eateries. Also post theater in the West End. Thanks in advance for chiming in!

Headed to see the Bears and Rams in a couple of weeks. About 20 people. Get to STL annually but usually stay by WU. Need ideas for good casual food close to downtown (Broadway Oyster?) or we might even venture to the Hill for Gian-Tony's. BBQ like Sugarfire seem perfect but can't take the chance that they'll be out of food!

John, we seem to be running into a roadblock as one night for dinner this trip will be a Sunday. Many of these wonderful choices are closed. What other options do we have?

Thanks. The Intercon is centrally located, so we expect to walk. Have heard about Singel 404. Any thoughts for a nice dinner?

My wife and I will be taking a train to AMS from Paris the first week of December for two nights at the Intercontinental. Know nothing about this city and would love recommendations for two dinners within walking distance. First night can be local or continental---we are from a culinary family and appreciate the work of great chefs. Second night must be casual (even sandwiches will do) as we leave early the next morning. Days will be filled with museums and, weather permitting, walking. Any good coffee and pastry?

Well, John, back we go! Leaving day after Thanksgiving and definitely headed back to Franck Enee. We want to keep all dinners in walking distance of the Mandarin so Pirouette may be out. Anything new or a great old standby? French Bistro is the choice. Also may try the RER from DeGaulle this time to LesHalles station rather than a car. Thanks in advance.

All; Bocca di Lupo was awesome, and a few feet from the theater (go see Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime at the Apollo). Too little time spent in London, this time. Will try and return for some horse racing soon. Thanks again!

Well thanks to all for some great ideas. The Mandarin Oriental was terrific, as it should be for the price. We found other less expensive places to have a glass of wine or an early evening cocktail. The restaurants we enjoyed were Pirouette and Franck Enee. Both were off the charts excellent---the crispy rabbit at FE was wonderful. Wish we could have stayed longer....

International racing is terrific. Af ew years back I attended the Melbourne Cup---it was off the charts. Longchamp is on the list.

Thanks to all who replied. We're set at Pirouette and Franck Enee (crispy rabbit!!) and our last night we want very casual---can even be a sandwich! Maybe something we pick up at a market? Tickets set for Musee D'Orsay---other days will be spent shopping, hitting markets and soaking up everything as we walk. Too bad there's no horse racing at Longchamp!

We are headed to Bocca di Lupo---and looking forward to it. Decided to take the Heathrow Connect rather than the Express as we arrive in on United and won't have to tram over to the Express terminal. 10 minutes longer ride but we save that in the transfer. We took a black cab the last trip in and that took forever.
Now looking for very casual Sunday night eats. Can even be a sandwich! Thanks to all who replied.

These all seem terrific! Want to stay winter casual. Do I flip a coin?
