In Beacon, Royal Crepes is fantastic and Glazed Over Donuts is also very good.

I'm a huge fan of Los Hornitos in Wappingers Falls. I also like Saigon Pho in that same plaza. Palace Dumplings a little farther north is amazing. Their dumplings are outstanding.

Have you seen any dishes with ramps recently? Thinking about where to go for date night next weekend. I'm looking for a place in the Mid-Hudson Valley. Thanks!

Just heard about a new Thai restaurant in Poughkeepsie. Apparently Formosa Cuisine (the one across the street from Marist) closed and this restaurant took its place. Anyone try it yet? I'm planning to go either this week or next week. I'm excited that they have curry puffs on their menu!

I was just there a few weeks ago. Their pork and chive dumplings are still excellent. The woman at the counter is always friendly and attentive.

We just had an excellent meal in Wappingers Falls (less than 10 minutes from Poughkeepsie) at Le Express. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. I had the branzino, which was delicious, and my husband had the croque madame. He thoroughly enjoyed it.

IMHO, a nice quick lunch at the Apple Pie Bakery at the CIA is better than dinner at American Bounty. I haven't really been too impressed with the restaurants there. I would also recommend Queen City Bistro in Poughkeepsie. Brasserie 292 and Artist's Palate (both in Poughkeepsie) are also very good.

A Tavola is amazing. It's one of my favorite restaurants in this area.

As for sightseeing, I definitely second Dia: Beacon and Storm King Art Center. In Beacon, I would recommend Poppy's Burgers and Gerard's Seafood Cafe. For dessert, try Zora Dora Paleteria. If you go to Storm King, Fiddlestix Cafe and The Hudson Street Cafe in Cornwall are excellent.

Mohonk is a tougher hike (the Lemon Squeeze is cool), but the views are amazing. Lake Minnewaska has carriage trails, so it's flat. I've gone there with my kids when they were in a stroller, if you're traveling with your family.

It's been nice to discover some new places to eat in the area. Would love to hear more recs!

Clancy's Cafe and Creamery in Hyde Park--They have the best ice cream. I just tried their Ferrero Rocher ice cream...absolutely delicious. They also have excellent customer service and a wide selection of sandwiches, burgers and entrees. I like their Val-Kill chicken wrap.

Hudson Valley FoodSmith in Wappingers Falls--I've only had a chance to go there once, but DH and I loved everything that we ordered.

Saigon Pho in Wappingers Falls--This restaurant has really improved over the past year. I believe they have new owners. The grilled pork bun, as well as their grilled pork spring rolls, are family favorites.

Bagel World in Wappingers Falls--best bagel shop in the area. Hands down.

55 Diner (previously named Spicy Mexican Diner) in Poughkeepsie--Great burritos carnitas and tacos. Reasonable and delicious. I also like the fact that they have diner staples, like pancakes and egg sandwiches.

Beacon picks:
Zora Dora Paletaria is awesome: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Zora-D...

Poppy's Burgers is good, but you might want to check out Gerardo's Seafood Cafe if you want something more upscale (https://www.facebook.com/pages/Gerard...).

If you like Doctor Who, Pandorica is a nice restaurant. The eats are okay, but it's more for the experience.

The Beacon Bite is a food truck in the area, but I'm not sure if they're open right now. Their last FB post was from Sri Lanka.

Cold Spring picks:
Hudson Hil's is excellent. Their grilled cheese sandwich is one of my all-time favorites.

If you want a slight detour to Wappingers Falls before you hit Beacon, Hudson Valley FoodSmith is excellent (https://www.facebook.com/hudsonvalley...).

A Tavola in New Paltz is excellent (thread here: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/808241). It's one of my all-time favorite restaurants. I also like Queen City Bistro in Poughkeepsie.

Planning to book a table at Queen City Bistro for a girls' night out. I'm looking forward to Restaurant Week this year especially since I missed it in 2014.

Thanks for the heads up. I just booked a table at Bocuse. Did they honor the RW menu on Fridays?

I like Giacomo's (http://www.giacomospizza.com/) and Longobardi's in Wappingers Falls. Giacomo's makes a great margherita pie. Tomato Cafe in Fishkill (http://www.tomatocafefishkill.com/) is good.

Thanks for a great review of QCB! I really enjoyed the food there and I thought the taste and presentation were excellent. Did you find that the pacing of the meal was a little off? I went with two friends and all of our dishes came out at random times. I know that they serve small dishes, but the last plate was served 20 minutes after the penultimate one. Just curious. Thanks!

Fiddlestix Cafe in Cornwall (8 min drive from Storm King) is delicious. It's not fancy, but the food is excellent. I would highly recommend Poppy's Burgers, Gerard's Seafood Cafe and Homespun Foods in Beacon. Get a paleta from Zora Dora as well. Enjoy your time in the Hudson Valley!

I think the Poughkeepsie Ice House (http://poughkeepsieicehouse.com/) would be your best bet for riverview outdoor seating on the Poughkeepside. You could also get takeout from Lola's Cafe (http://www.lolascafeandcatering.com/) and eat on the Walkway. Sorry this response is so late!

Stopped by the renovated Vietnamese restaurant (now named Saigon Pho and under new management) and picked up a menu. I didn't have time to try anything, but I was happy to see grilled pork spring rolls on the menu.

When you're heading south on Rt. 9, turn right onto Main Street (the west side). Tomato Cafe and Golden Buddha are on your right side (north) while Toro and Tanjore are on your left side (south).

Enjoy!
