I will miss your work Melanie (and Ricepad also who I once misgendered). Unfortunately the move towards ads kind of wrecked the thing IMO. I wish to find a useful spot especially fod California chow but also the western US generally. Thanks to all for the years of help and good advice.

My wife and I are coming up for about a week or 10 days early in October. We will be staying downtown for a good part of the time so I am game for bar and pub scene and the like in that area including getting around without a car. Thanks, Tom Hall

I am a T-shirt/Aloha shirt, shorts and New Balance shoe guy; no need for a table cloth here. Table and Bull & Beggar look interesting. Glad we won't go hungry.

Been reading alot of posts from the past 1-2 years. The Admiral seems to get the most love. Their website does not seem to really show why very well. Maybe a little help, please?

Then there is support for these: Curate, Limones, Nightbell, Cucina24, Fig, Table, The Junction, Ambrozia, Zambia, Bouchon, the Bull & Beggar. How to choose is a problem with so many

It seems like Rhubarb and Buxton Hall are trying (looking elsewhere and at the websites) but elicit much love. I am guessing King James closed?

Smoky Park looks good on their website but I have been around long enough to trust you peeps alot more than a commercial website.

Looks like White Duck Tacos and All Souls Pizza do well at a more casual setting.

We have 8-9 days (I will spend 3 days at a meeting at the Grove Park Inn; lucky wife is free). All y'all warned everyone away from dining there so we will spend our stay downtown.

We went to Cotogna on a Sunday evening and it was extremely excellent on all counts. Just what were looking and hoping for.

Coming to Asheville next month for several days. Unfortunately, a meeting uses 3 days. I saw this website:

http://www.ashevillefoodtrucks.com/

It lists both food trucks and breweries. There are WAY too many for any normal person to hit up in a month (or longer). So. Where to go. A poster mentioned something about the El Kimchi truck with an Iron Rail IPA among many other options.

Thank you Multifoiled and MS Wong; no long time, no (virtual) see Melanie. I did not realize that Cotogna had their regular menu on Sunday. I believe that I shall follow your suggestion. Thanks to all, Tom

Which one should I try? And why? I have spent about 3+ weeks total in Tuscany. I have tried and liked A16 and Barbacco. Looking at SQPR, flour+water and Delfina. My wife and I are pretty much all about the food and wine. Anything else we should consider with the one restiction that it must be open for dinner on Sunday. Thanks.

Chowhound has become functionally unusable. I had felt like this had been the single best general food website for finding decent, thoughtful discussion about and recommendations regarding good food, restaurants, questions about food and cooking, etc. It is now very confusing, unwieldy, hard to search and very frustrating to try to use. I guess I will try it a couple more times over the next few months but without major changes to improve functionality, I will be gone and very sad for the loss of what had been a superior website.

Looking for a good lunch spot on Saturday, Jan 17 that will have the early NFL game available. Only big requirement beside the game is good food. Thanks.

I have had some OK food in a couple casinos but that seems "hit or miss" usually. You are driving in a vast, mostly empty space.

I haven't spent much time here in several years so I hope the intervening years have been kind restaurant-wise. Last time I was there, 626 on Rood was quite new and pretty darn good. I am hoping some of the local food sourcing has caught on. I will entertain anything from a diner to the nice joint. Good Mexican would be nice also. Thanks.

Yes, in between Vancouver and Kelowna. I am going to do a separate post for my time in the Okanagan.

I have reviewed multiple posts about the trip from Vancouver to Okanagan and back and found little of value, e.g. there is not much hope in Hope, Merritt has slim pickings, etc. Any new news? I arrive at YVR at about 3:30PM. I figure that by the time I clear customs, get the car, etc there is not much sense hoofing it all the way over but I don't want to eat swill either. Thanks, Tom

Thanks for all the good replies. LotusRapper, I appreciate the Canadian efforts at defying the cultural and language hegemony emanating from your southern border. Tom

I did a search and cannot find anything recent. Looking for decent lunch nearby. Any cuisine (almost); price not an issue. Will be there at conference for 5-6 days. Coming from California so Mexican not needed. Thanks, Tom Hall

Please speak to me about the Seattle side oysters then. I appreciate your sentiments about hating, etc. Makes think that you care and I will consider the options. Thanks.

Where should I go for raw oysters? Happy hour value a plus. I want Dungeness crab also. I prefer a simple preparation or will take out and prepare myself. Coming from out of state. Thanks, Tom Hall

I did a search but I find it hard to tell what is really NEW Mexican. Thanks.

I will also be willing to drive to Albuquerque for something really good.

I have been to New Mexico and Santa Fe about 15 years ago. I loved the New Mexican food. I see that Santa Fe has a much greater number of restaurants now, many of which are "international" such as French, Spanish, Italian, etc. I would the real stuff and not the Tex-Mex, Cal-Mex, Mexican, etc. Please help. Thanks, Tom Hall

Thanks. You, sir, are correct about Falling Rock: an overwhelming number of beers. I will take a look at The Kitchen.

Looking for the better farm to table places in downtown area. Also looking for places with lots of craft beer, particularly draft. Some CO beers is a plus. These do not have to be the same places.

And what is with all the pig ears anyway?

Coming to Denver for the first time since the late 1970's. I will be going to a meeting at the convention center. We will be staying at around 22nd and Glenarm Place (I now see it is close to Five Points - hoping some things have changed).

I will need lunches close by the convention center and will eat most things. For dinner, we would like some nice places to eat at. Again, we will eat any cuisine but some of my favorite places are the New American cuisine. My wife is a carnivore. A decent wine list or lots of draft beer choices are definite pluses. We are planning a visit to Barolo Grill in Cherry Creek unless the naysayers are overwhelming. By the way, is corkage allowed in Colorado?

In the (very) old days, we would eat at Leonardi's for "cannolis" which were really calzones (I think it was sort of/kind of somewhat near Wahington Park), McFann's on Capitol Hill for prime rib sandwiches (a poor man's prime rib dinner) and the Satire for beer, Mexican food, beer and some more beer. No money but pretty good times.

Thanks for the help. I try to report back.

What is good near the Orpheum Theater? Any cuisine is fine. I was considering Zuni provided that it will remain open. (RIP, Ms. Rodgers.)

Yo David, Not to be a Richard or something but it takes about a half hour to a couple hours for each of those searches if one does them more or less reasonably well. And some of those searches don't exist in an expectantly useful time frame so one has to go offsite (from CH). Just sayin' and not hassling you.
