Halleluia! A new upscale food market has just opened out here in the hinterlands. They have the usual lunch time prepared foods - salads, pizzas, a delcious Turkish crepe type thing filled with your choice of chicken, ground beef, feta cheese or vegetables.
But...what really has me excited is that I can grab really nice looking ingredients for dinner on the way home. Full produce section, dairy case, and a meat counter (slated to open today), and a small but nice selection of staples/dried goods. I confess I didn't check out their prices and I'm sure they're high, but I rationalize by saying it's usually cheaper to buy ingredients than to eat out. I probably wouldn't do my marketing there on a daily basis, and I will continue to stop off at Dean and Deluca every so often and venture over to the fabulous Chelsea Market when the spirit moves me, but this place seems like it's going to be great for those nights when the fridge is bare, you don't want to eat out, and delivery just doesn't float your boat.
So for those of you working near Bryant Park who face my frequent "what's for dinner" dilemma... check it out!
